It can have many negative consequences, including: Isolation Child brides may be separated from their families, friends, and communities. (TRAFFICKING!!!!!) Violence They may experience physical and sexual violence, including domestic violence. Pregnancy Girls who marry young are more likely to become pregnant while still children, which can be dangerous for both them and their babies. School drop-out Child brides are less likely to stay in school, which can have lifelong economic impacts. HIV/AIDS Child brides are more likely to contract HIV/AIDS. Intergenerational poverty Child marriage can hurt economies and lead to cycles of poverty that are passed down to future generations.

At Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation engineers are one of the few areas we hire people straight out of school. 3 things are very important when I consider someone fresh out of college versus an experienced person. 1) coops and internships- That is the closest thing to professional experience you can get in school. Preferably with a company in consumer goods manufacturing of some sort. 2)Having a passion for motorsports, especially if you are trying to get into product development. If you are not excited about the products we make and consider them an integral part of your life you probably won't fit in what we do. 3)Be realistic about salary requirements. I see too many recent graduates who think they deserve 100K+ with no experience. There are very few companies that will start an inexperienced engineer at that rate. #GetStarted

“Do you leave it better than you found it? Or do you just check the box?” How many of us that are in supporting roles in the automotive industry simply just “check the box?” Whether you are a vendor or an implementation rep like myself, are you simply just “checking the box” or “leaving it better than you found it?” I’ve seen so many times throughout my tenure that it just seems when folks visit a dealership service department they just are providing that tick mark of “yep, I was here. Mission accomplished.” Can you look in the mirror with pride and honestly say that you’ve added value, or at least attempted? Ultimately, it is on the team at the location to enact change but are you offering any encouragement? Words of advice? Being a second set of eyes? At the end of the day, how well is whatever service you are selling or product you are pushing going to be successful if other facets, as minuscule as they may seem, are falling through the cracks? Maybe it is helping an advisor overcome customer objections and how to properly present a MPI. Maybe it is helping a service manager schedule appointments, set capacities, and load the shop more efficiently. Maybe it is helping the parts department come up with systems to have quick moving parts in the bays or parts runners. How about showing the advisor team how to do a quality walk around and “pet the dog.” Maybe it is helping the BDC team find creative ways to fill the shop in the afternoon. How about finding solutions to hold the team accountable as well as reward them when they do outstanding work? I’d like to think that when you work with our team at Update Promise, not only are you getting a software solution that enhances customer experience, you are getting real life fixed ops experience/advice that will help your team get to the next level. And when we provide a launch, we have your best interest at heart…we care. We want the customer to win, the team members to win, everyone to win. At one point I was in that service managers shoes, and I want to know that when I leave I made a difference. That maybe in some way I made his/her world just a little bit better. I just know that my pride always has me wanting to “leave it better than I found it.” How about you? #updatepromise

Here's a "back to the future" moment - look at where we all are in Electrification - with most/many full line OEM's able to work in this space. Volt was the first production range extended plug-in EV - essentially series hybrid. Called E-flex at the time , there was a fuel cell version in the original architecture as well as the possibility of other generators - SI ICE was the clear path to production. Definitely a large disrupter during a tough time for the industry. This program took EV-1 and the 2 mode hybrid beginnings to a new level. It brought to GM mainstream things like Li-ion battery and vertical full battery team & facilities, "modern" plug in /charging hardware, propulsion & RESS conditioning , CS/CD modes , umbrella curves , RESS durability , and other advances in the electrification space. Interesting read for sure.
