Olson Engage's work on “Wake Up & Smell the Bacon” campaign for Oscar Mayer has won a Bronze PR Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The campaign, a collaboration with digital agency 360i, was built around an iPhone attachment that turned smartphones into bacon-scented alarm clocks, allowing people to wake up to the smell of bacon anywhere. Olson Engage led PR and earned-media strategy on the effort, which created massive media buzz and wound up boosting sales and helping the Oscar Mayer brand stand out in a massive but largely unbranded online conversation about bacon.
Approximately 2,000 campaigns were submitted to the PR Lions, with 200 making the shortlist and only 79 receiving Lions.
The international recognition continues a strong run of accolades for the 105-person PR team, which earlier this year won a Silver Effie (Wrigley’s Extra), two Shorty Awards (for Trulia and Oscar Mayer) and three Insight & Innovation (IN2) SABRE Awards (Skittles, Oscar Mayer and the Belize Tourism Board) on top of 2014 recognition such as being named U.S. Agency of the Year by PR Week and the world’s top consumer consultancy by the Holmes Report. -

Olson Engage added to its remarkable run of national accolades by taking home three trophies at the 2014 SABRE Awards in New York May 6, including two agency of the year honors.
Awarded by the Holmes Report, a leading PR-industry trade publication, the SABRE Awards are among the industry’s most-entered and most prestigious competitions.
Olson Engage took home both Specialist Agency of the Year and Creative Agency of the Year honors. -
