How do you respectfully and constructively reject a candidate?
Communication in any instance is my number one priority. While I prefer to stay away from the word "reject" I do let candidates know in a timely fashion, no more than a week, that the alignment wasn't there at this time. I then actively share additional roles that might be options and as well pipeline them for future engagements so that I can actively stay in contact with them. If by some chance I cannot stick to feedback within a week, I still communicate with them on why the delay so that the time they took to speak with us is well respected and considered through all stages of the process.
