Here's how you can effectively engage with diverse candidates by tailoring your communication style.
Creating an environment where candidates feel comfortable asking questions starts with building them up! Take time at the beginning of the interview to ask about their day or connect over something you have in common. The friendlier and more encouraging you are about the stories and answers candidates share, the more comfortable they will become throughout the conversation. When opening the floor for questions at the end, I always say something like: "Now I'll turn it over to you for any questions. I might not be able to answer everything, but if I can't, I'll circle back with an answer!" Providing a warm and engaging environment, and being vulnerable yourself, creates a space where candidates feel comfortable asking any questions!

What steps can you take to ensure a fair and balanced evaluation of candidates despite conflicting feedback?
Some things I've found helpful in reviewing feedback during a (virtual) onsite: - Ensure interviewers don't share thoughts with each other during the interview to mitigate bias. - Share all feedback with the hiring panel after all interviews are completed and before the debrief, so everyone has time to review. - As the recruiter, look for differences in feedback. These are the components you want to focus on during your debrief with the panel.

Here's how you can efficiently manage your time when sourcing and screening candidates.
Something that has worked for me is using a calendar tool like Calendly to set blocks of time during my day for phone screens. What works best for me is doing calls in the morning when I feel most focused and ready to engage. Of course, I'll always tell candidates to reach out if none of the available times work for them, and we can find a suitable time. This approach leaves the afternoon for unstructured tasks like sourcing and ensures a constant flow of new candidates.

Here's how you can collaborate with hiring managers to find the best candidates.
In my experience, hiring managers are usually stretched thin, which is why they are hiring. While scheduling regular meetings is a great start, it's vital to meet hiring managers where they spend their time for quick feedback and info sharing. That could be via email or your company's messaging tool like Slack or Teams. Don't be afraid to ask hiring managers what their preferred medium for quick conversations is. This helps both of you be more efficient and avoids having to wait for the next scheduled meeting.
