“I worked with Brian during his time as Director of Sales, and his ability to cultivate a positive and productive culture is unmatched! He was able to adapt quickly to a new market and communicated clear and focused goals that we worked together to achieve as a team. He is one of the most understanding and encouraging leaders I’ve had the pleasure to work with, and was always supportive in my own growth and development as a leader. I look forward to seeing those he works with continuing to grow, and benefit from his positive leadership and vision.”

About
“A leader's job is not to do the work for others, it's to help others figure out how to do it themselves, to get things done, and to succeed beyond what they thought possible.”-Simon Sinek
Every since I was a kid I wanted to be on Television. I was fascinated by TV. At an early age my mother has pictures of me in front of the TV during a World Series game on ABC. I remember it was the 1985 world series when George Brett was taking on the Cardinals. I would turn down the audio on the TV and give the play by play in front of parents. Years later this passion would turn into a career when I landed my first TV Sports job in the small east Texas town of Tyler Texas.
After Tyler I had the opportunity to become a great journalist working in some amazing newsrooms across the country. This passion of local community, eventually led me off the air and into sales and TV leadership.
Currently I lead the staff at Denver7 in Denver, Colorado as the VP/GM with the EW Scripps company. Having had the opportunity to lead some great teams I am grounded that leadership is essential in any organizations success.
I've earned a reputation as being a leader who believes in the bigger picture, showing vision to my teams, and understanding the path to take in order for the team to succeed. Leadership is about knowing when to take a risk and act when the time is right. True leaders keep their eye on the day to day, but focus more on the future of what's to come. That's the type of leader I am.
In my Director of Sales & GM positions, I feel it is important to help advertisers connect the dots in putting together the right marketing plan. I tend to immerse myself in sales and marketing, knowing the “same old” won't cut it anymore in the television business. I am extremely familiar at selling local digital solutions to clients and am well versed in selling real-time localization engines that syndicate any content across any channel or platform. For 15+ years I have built a consistent track record of enhancing business value, growing market share, and identifying where to zig while others around me zag.
All of this still comes down to true leadership, being intentional daily with your staff. Leadership is an everyday thing, not a once in a while thing. It helps you be that creative thinker and connects with the people around you. Leadership helps to inspire and get the best out of everyone you work with, wanting the best for them first, before you. Leadership is everything to me. Leaders take you places you have never been before. So, what are you waiting for? Let's go.

You have a big business presentation coming up. How can you make it stand out?
Always start your presentation with some humility. A great story around your topic always seems to grab an audience’s attention quickly. Make sure the story is relatable. The more you come across genuine the more interested your audience becomes.

How can you communicate a change in direction to your team effectively?
One thing that might be helpful when involving your team is to make sure they know where your blind spots might be as a leader. Being vulnerable about your weaknesses and then involving certain team members to to help you around those will get buy in with the change you are experiencing. It makes the change seem less daunting when others know they are involved in solutions around that change, and that you are counting on them to help the process move forward.
