On June 28, 2024, Horizon Part 1 hit theaters with plans for an early streaming release in September. However, things took a turn on July 10, 2024, as it was revealed that the movie will shift to pay-per-view in just 6 days. Interestingly, Horizon Part 2's August box office debut has been canceled. Looks like Costner and the team lost faith in the movie quite swiftly...in just 12 days. #MovieIndustry #EntertainmentNews

🎧 Delving into the intricate world of storytelling through sound! 📚🎙️ Here's a glimpse of a current project I'm working on: a multi-actor sci-fi audiobook-cum-radio play! 🎬🎧 The pic is my (early stages) Pro Tools session, where every element—actors, sound effects, and ambience—is crafted to bring the narrative to life. 💫 Whether you're a podcaster, audio drama aficionado, or filmmaker, you know that storytelling extends beyond words—it's about crafting emotions and painting scenes with sound. And sometimes less is more...🌟 #AudioDrama #AudiobookProduction #SoundDesign #Storytelling #ProTools

Is there such a thing as 'work-life balance?' I bet if you ask most sound professionals in the business, they would say, 'A work-life what?' But why? Why do we have to defend such a balance? Is it because the industry used to award and prioritize those who made work their everything? Or perhaps it's because of fear. The fear that if we said 'no' we run the risk of getting overlooked. These days, we find more and more reasons to introduce a work-life balance. If you're tired of feeling run-ragged and depleted after a 12-16 hour work day, here are 3 ways you can start small yet simple to carve out some work-life balance. 1. Set Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. Designate specific times for work-related tasks and stick to them. Avoid checking work emails or even taking work calls during personal time, and vice versa. By creating these boundaries, you can protect your personal time and reduce the risk of burnout. 2. Prioritize Self-Care: Make self-care a priority in your routine. Schedule time for activities that help you relax and recharge, such as exercise, hobbies, meditation/prayer, journaling, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is essential for maintaining balance and preventing stress and fatigue. 3. Delegate and Collaborate: Don't be afraid to delegate tasks or collaborate with others to lighten your workload. In the post-production sound industry, teamwork is crucial, and sharing responsibilities can help reduce stress and improve efficiency. Whether it's collaborating with colleagues on a project or outsourcing certain tasks, learning to delegate effectively can free up time for other aspects of your life. By implementing these strategies, we can navigate the demands of our industry while prioritizing our well-being. Remember, finding balance is not only possible but essential for long-term success. #worklifebalance #postproductionsound #selfcare #teamwork #masteringpostproductionsound #postsound #soundcommunity

Please share 🙏Any sound editors, re-recording mixers, foley artists and composers in the US ONLY, would be interested in doing a sound redesign together? I have 15 years of experience and definitely need to network more. So what’s better than networking with your peers remotely in real time and most of all pushing each other? Think of it this way, it’s like a virtual gym. Reps reps reps get you to your goals. My current goals are, financial freedom, working in a post production studio and having my name on Hollywood blockbusters. So what are your goals? I’m trying to be part of a few groups. This is an industry where you’re part of a team. So think of this as a team building exercise, to prepare us for when that great job opportunity comes you can call one us and thank each other for pushing to be where you want to be. Please be in the US. It just makes it a little easier with the scheduling process. #soundredesign #postproduction #hollywoodsound #sounddesign #soundediting #mixing #filmaudio #networking #protools #audioengineer

Masking in video editing is crucial for precisely controlling where effects, transitions, or adjustments are applied within a video frame. It allows editors to isolate specific areas, objects, or people, ensuring that changes are targeted and don't affect unintended parts of the scene. This precision enhances the overall quality and professional appearance of the video.

Lately had a couple days off from gigs so I been workin on random L'Acoustic setups after I received my Certification completion in Kara II and Soundvision. Now that I got the Fundamentals down, gotta keep practicing and making things look and sound better. Not bad so far, but Audio Acoustic Maps are like artwork. One can mess with it for hours to get it just right. The problem is most shows I do are so quick that you don't get that 'All the time in the world' to make it purfect. Corporate AV is just a way different then Outside Sheds. #kara #lacoustic #AudioEngineer #A2 #A1 #Practicemakespurfect #PSSLLC

Resumes are dead. Here’s what you need instead. Did you know that in my 16 years in the post-production sound industry, I’ve been asked for a resume only twice? That’s right. Today, I’m challenging the conventional wisdom about resumes and sharing some powerful alternatives. In today's video, I dive into some controversial advice from Seth Godin’s "Linchpin." Seth argues that if you’re truly remarkable, you shouldn’t need a resume at all. Instead, focus on building a compelling portfolio, networking strategically, and creating engaging content. Here are 3 game-changing tips to help you stand out in our competitive industry: 1️⃣ Create a Compelling Portfolio: Showcase your best work online with detailed case studies and testimonials. 💼 2️⃣ Network Strategically: Attend industry events, seek mentorship, and secure strong recommendations. 🤝 3️⃣ Engage with Insightful Content: Start a blog or YouTube channel to demonstrate your expertise and connect with your audience. 📱 Maybe it's time to rethink how we present ourselves and get the jobs we deserve. Have you ever landed a job without a resume? Do you agree with Seth's take? Ready to ditch the resume and elevate your career? NEW HOT STEAM GAME ALERT! Who’s playing Once Human? A new game from a Netease studio has recently started climbing the Steam CCU charts. Once Human is a survival looter shooter. Think Ark, Rust, Palworld, Valheim, Sons of the Forest, Subnautica, Frostpunk, …..ugg will they ever stop making these? Sorry, they are not my cup of tea but apparently, kids dig em! At writing Once Human has 170K CCU putting it as the 6th most played game on Steam right now after a bunch of Valve stuff that has been out for 100 years and a stupid Banana clicker game. I can see why something new is getting attention. I have not played, I'll admit, but the sentiment seems slightly above average with one weird complaint. It seems the terms of service players must agree to has some excessive asks. The ToS asks for personal data, social media information and your Government ID? Hummm. The Chinese-owned studio has issued a statement via Twitter trying to clarify the scenarios where this sort of information may be used but some people may be leery with the whole TikTok vs. the US government stuff going on. Have you played and signed over all your personal info? :P
