AHS is recognized as top tier music program, including recent performances at highly selective events, including the Minnesota Music Educators Annual Convention. Each year, students in the AHS band program qualify for All-State honors, receive Best in Site awards at region and state contest, and are provided with opportunities to work and collaborate with experts in the band field, including artists and composers Shelly Hanson, Samuel Hazo, Daniel Kallman, as well as ensembles such as The New Standards.

An emphasis is placed upon experiential music, collaborating with faculty on college and university campuses, including recent collaborations with the University of Minnesota, UM-Duluth, Augsburg College, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Concordia College, McNally Smith College of Music, and more. The band program also works with local organizations like the Austin Area Commission for the Arts and regional partner MacPhail Center for Music to provided unique educational and performance opportunities for all students.

Through collaboration and teamwork, greatness can be achieved! For example, the AHS band program has grown in recent years, including a renewed emphasis on outreach, fundraising, and an increase in performances for greater Austin community. In response to the added performances, the band has been able to raise over $50,000 for much-needed instruments and supplies. Oversaw a comprehensive music and theatre program including the direction of concert bands, jazz ensembles, and multiple theatrical events annually. Artistic and and Musical director of numerous Fall Musicals, One-Act Plays, and Musical Revues, in addition to teaching AP Music Theory and an academic course in the study of Musical Theatre for secondary students. Students in Concert and Jazz ensembles received highest ratings possible at regional contests each spring.

Teacher of Music Appreciation

As the manager of the American Bandmasters Association Research Center, I organized and archived paper and media collections, processed collections and finding aids, and assisted authors and researchers with inquiries both electronically and in person.

Music director of both traditional and contemporary ensembles at three services weekly; managed music library, led rehearsals and performances year-round, and led worship through performance on both piano and organ.

Director of elementary general music as well as middle school and high school choral ensembles; prepared secondary students for solo/ensemble contest, large group festival, and multiple concerts.
