  • Cell Phone Recycling Campaign

    I started a Cell Phone Recycling Campaign to help the environment and Western Lowland Gorillas. After harambes death, I wanted to make a change so other Western Lowland Gorillas won’t go extinct. I noticed that many phone batteries contain a special mineral which is mined in Africa and destroys gorilla habitats. So, if people recycle their old phones, there will be less of a demand for the mineral coltan. I ran the project in the Sycamore community and helped people to feel like they made a…

    I started a Cell Phone Recycling Campaign to help the environment and Western Lowland Gorillas. After harambes death, I wanted to make a change so other Western Lowland Gorillas won’t go extinct. I noticed that many phone batteries contain a special mineral which is mined in Africa and destroys gorilla habitats. So, if people recycle their old phones, there will be less of a demand for the mineral coltan. I ran the project in the Sycamore community and helped people to feel like they made a difference in the environment, even if it is as simple as recycling a cell phone. Currently, I am continuing the project at The Ohio State University with the help of the USG Sustainability Committee and Net Impact. My campaign goal is to donate and recycle 2000 phones. Lastly, I run my project through the Cincinnati Zoo’s Go Banana Challenge who partners with a small recycling business, Eco Cell. Donate a cell phone, help the environment and save the Gorillas!

    I was recognized as the Top Youth Volunteer for the State of Ohio. I earned recognition due to my cell phone recycling campaign.

  • Top 20 in the world Sports and Entertainment Marketing

    DECA

    I competed at the International DECA event hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. I earned a spot in the top 20 for my series and earned "Best Role Play". A role play is similar to a case competition and mine involved Sports and Entertainment Marketing.

    I developed a way to save my school's water bill by making toilets more efficient and environmentally friendly. I earned 1st place for the project and my school got $1000.
