The Indian Gen AI prosumer, consumer landscape still remains early – Companies have hit power users but are subscale OR have low % of paying users  • Companies do not have enough cohort level data to indicate product love  • Most cos who have managed to cross few hundred thousand users (MAU) are building their US GTM machine  • They have a rudimentary hallucination check AND a rudimentary RLHF in place We at Chiratae ventures are keen to look at – 1) Vernacular AI assistants - Sarvam, Krutrim are foundational model (Sarvam – OpenHathi) based general intelligence assistants very similar to Anthromorphic or Poe, but contextualized to India. They have raised significant capital, but the space remains open still. 2) Vernacular AI search – We do not have a Perplexity, Liner for the Indian vernacular. This is a potential whitespace. We will look for a solid team, with a solid product roadmap. Product risk mitigation playbooks are being built out by investors as we speak  Some companies like Two.ai are building both assistants as well as AI enabled search platforms. 3) Co-pilots for Professional services with pre-existing spend pools which can be delivered digitally – AI generated influencers, AI based gaming, digital professionals/copilots - legal professionals, counsellors/therapists, accountants Please write in to sarthak@chiratae.com if you feel there is something you would like to discuss. The Product Roadmap edition #4: We speak to Sahil Gupta (Mckinsey, Blackstone, HBS, Amazon) who has had a starry career over the last ~15 years. He's worked for over a decade in the US, working at Amazon across multiple different teams, and most recently moving back to India. What if your queries required access to multiple sub-related data from different documents, for an LLM to parse and make sense of before returning a coherent and accurate output? We often ask complicated questions, right? 🔹Well to solve this problem, these researchers released Multi-Head RAG (MRAG) which leverages activations of Transformer’s multi-head attention layer, instead of the decoder layer, as keys for fetching multi-aspect documents. They are taking advantage of the fact that multi-head attention can learn to capture different data aspects. 🔹The interesting part is that MRAG is both cost-effective and energy-efficient. In other words, it does not require additional LLM queries, multiple model instances, increased storage, or multiple inference passes over the embedding model. 🔹Moreover, MRAG can be seamlessly integrated with existing RAG frameworks and benchmarking tools like RAGAS as well as different classes of data stores. 🔹The researchers provide a comprehensive evaluation methodology, including specific metrics, synthetic datasets, and real world use cases to demonstrate MRAG’s effectiveness. 🔸Do check it out! #genai #technology #artificialintelligence Click #linkedangle and follow for more content Set the 🔔 notification on my page, don’t miss a post!

In 2014, India's average data consumption per user was just 0.3 GB/month at ₹269/GB. Today, thanks to Modi Govt's push and players like Jio, users consume 30.3 GB/month at ₹10-13/GB. Remember when we rationed data usage to stretch it for a month? Now, everyone's a legal expert, taxation guru, election analyst, military strategist and more! 😆 We've come a long way from just worrying about onion and tomato prices to debating complex tax issues like Indexation. I found this report from Stanford very informative and a good summary of the AI industry. Stanford University AI Index Report 2024: Key Insights - https://lnkd.in/g2sivhui There were 3 areas that stood out for me: 1. Embracing Open Source Foundation Models The report underscores a notable shift towards open source foundation models over closed models within the AI landscape. This trend reflects a growing emphasis on collaboration, transparency, and democratization of AI technologies. 2. AI's Superiority and Limitations AI has shown impressive abilities in certain tasks such as image classification, and visual reasoning, but it still lags behind human cognition and understanding. However, the AI industry is rapidly evolving, and the report is already outdated in terms of the latest advancements in language models such as Llama 3 and it and other LLMs progress on the MMLU and HELM tests. 3. Heightened Awareness and Apprehension The report notes the global awareness regarding AI's potential impact, accompanied by a heightened sense of apprehension. 52% of the people polled express nervousness toward AI products and services (an increase of 13% from 2022). Have a clear strategy to align relaxed deadlines for AI implementation with tight deadline for operationalization as a part of AI product management. This needs a clear, deep and evolving understanding of AI landscape like data, opensourceLLMs vs Enterprise LLMs and their capabilities, metrics(external, custom), managed API vs finetuned vs pretrained vs custom build AI, buy vs build , Hallucination, context provision, prompt engineering, agent architecture, frameworks like langchain vs llmaindex, ML vs LLM choice and much more. This needs a clear, deep understanding about enterprise requirements like authentication, security, compliance, load balancing , latency, observability, multi-tenancy, infrastructure and much more. Success will come if we synchronize these efforts more as SME leader and less as a manager. #productmanagement #GenAI

Nice to have 'Top New Release' status on Amazon for the latest book (my 25th) that explores an alternative paradigm for quantum computation. Illustrations (111) by Dr. Narendra Madhav Joshi. My take is that we owe it to ourselves at this early stage of the industry's lifecycle to explore alternative approaches. Here is a brief overview: "This book attempts to reveal something of the vastly different and fundamentally creative quality of computing that must accompany any computation involving the quantum-levels. To linearly project digital computing laurels manifest as increasing speeds and the ability to process vaster amounts of information, as the inevitable trajectory of quantum computing is perhaps, in the aphorism attributed to the Buddha, to look only at the finger and to miss the moon and the sky that it is pointing to. The cover figure highlights all that is being missed, summarized as an egg-like structure synonymous with the term ‘Hiranyagarbha’ in Sanskrit. This depicts the womb of creation abundant with many layers and patterns reflecting luminescence, due to the constant superposition and entanglement inherent to the quantum computation that derives from a light-centered interpretation of quantum dynamics."
