It feels like yesterday but yeah, it is Day 17 of my training at Exlearn Technologies with Prashant Gavate. Understanding and performing lab exercises on the different services performed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) CloudTrail, AWS Config, & Amazon CloudWatch was indeed a journey. AWS CloudTrail - * Monitor the entire AWS environment for auditing, reporting, logs, and more. * Track changes. * Monitor Users - IAM user's activities. AWS Config - * To monitor configuration changes in the AWS resources. ** An example is a change in the size of RAM, Storage, and the like. Amazon CloudWatch - * Collection and tracking of metrics, logs, and events. * Automatic alarm triggering in response to changes in AWS resources. * Provision of insights into resource utilization, application performance, and operational health. * Support for AWS services and custom metrics. Integration with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and Lambda. * Optimization of resource utilization, performance improvement, and compliance enforcement. After reading through all the Intel above, how do we get notified? Once an alarm is created, how can you get notified? AWS SNS - Amazon Web Services Simple Notification Service does the job. Yes, AWS SNS (Simple Notification Service) - * Create topics to categorize and manage multiple recipients for a specific message. * Automatically scale the solution to handle high volumes of messages. * Support message filtering based on specific attributes to target specific recipients. * Seamlessly integrate with AWS services like CloudWatch, S3, and Lambda for enhanced functionality. * Enable push notifications for mobile applications, ensuring real-time message delivery. * Guarantee message delivery with retries and dead-letter queues to prevent message loss. NOTE: Under Alarm status (on the AWS console), it is important to look out for these three Intel - * In alarm - If the threshold value specified is crossed. * OK - When the metric value is less than the threshold. * Insufficient - When Amazon CloudWatch is unable or yet to read the data (at times this is experienced a few minutes after launch). Whew, 🤓 being a nerd can be intense, right? We do have a 45 TOPs NPU in Copilot+ PCs. But it’s not all about speed. You can get speed with GPUs too - even faster! But it’s about efficiency. It’s about battery life on your laptop that you are only allowed to fly (in the US) with a 100WHr battery capacity. Its about minimizing thermal throttling. Its about sustainability. When you get 45 TOPs with single digit watts, you can compute almost all the time. Something like Recall would totally trash your device experience when not offloaded to efficient hardware even if it is able to ‘run’. Phi Silica would take over your system resources without efficient hardware and if you want generative AI running in your games, you may soon end up thermally throttled.
