Topcoder hosts an annual programming and design competition, in 2014 this included a “Girls in STEM” event featuring a panel & breakout sessions allowing Bay Area High School girls to better understand the diversity of jobs available in the tech industry. Showing the student attendees that a computer science or related degree does not necessarily mean committing to a coding career, and encouraging them to explore the full spectrum of possible career options.
