W2 ROLE Job Title: Technical Support Engineer - Integrations end client - ServiceNow Inc. Pay Rate:<$45.00/hr on W2 without benefits Location: Santa Clara, CA Note: This position will also require onsite presence weekly on Wednesday and Thursday at the Santa Clara office. Duties: Overview: Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems. Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering. What you will do in this role: Be a Customer Advocate providing support to users/administrators of our platform Understand our platform, cloud technologies and troubleshooting practices to ensure successful resolution of challenging technical situations Resolve technical cases created by customers looking for help to understand or troubleshoot unexpected behaviors or answer technical questions about the ServiceNow software and platform. Gain an understanding of the ServiceNow platform and all core functionality. Analyze data with a view to isolate the potential cause of the issue. Involve others to accomplish personal and group goals. Skills: What you will need to be successful in this role: Knowledge on LDAP/Active Directory, SSO or other authentication or user management systems Understanding of Email Troubleshooting (e.g. Office 365, Exchange ) Knowledge on Web Services (SOAP, REST) Working knowledge on Network troubleshooting (e.g. Ping, Telnet) Hands on experience in any bi-directional, integration between two systems Some experience with Scripting languages: JavaScript preferred Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle) Experience with the gathering and reading of various log files Hiring Manager Notes: Integrations gets a mix of issue types that typically center around there broad topics: 1) Email  2) SSO/Authentication 3) Web Services 4) Scripting /Rest API 5) database issues Given the wide variety of issues that we get there is no 1 or 2 must have skills. Instead we are looking for candidates that some firsthand experience in as many of these technical areas as possible as it speeds up the ramp up time. If you don't follow Amy Miller...well, you are missing out. "Transitioning" vets, I recommend her as well to you. So you get a peek at what your recruiter (or even YOU AS a recruiter) could expect. Funny, smart, tough as nails, and names her plants. And likes Skeletor memes. Second, post covid 'right-sizing' is real. And your recruiting partners (and dare I say hiring managers) are doing the ol': DO MORE WITH LESS thang And without serious efficiency upgrades and improvements, well... Like anything, The product can suffer. The timeliness of delivery can suffer. The work-life balance definitely gets crushed. You see, some places don't REALLY care about these. Oh, they'll pay it some lip service here and there, but eventually all 💩 rolls down hill and hits terminal velocity, sometimes right INTO your lap. Because they NEEDED you pre-covid, but then ain't now my friends. The post covid environment is about uncertainty, right-sizing, restructuring, optimizing, and wrapping it all up in cost-savings at the expense of the thing you SAY you value the most: The people (insert 🙄 ) The laws of capacity apply. I cannot fathom rocking out about 70 job requisitions with over-worked hiring managers, stretched thin HR teams, eliminated L&D departments, and compressed onboarding timelines. I know...it's all cyclic right? But when you preach ONE thing, and DO another thing...my cynical side cannot help but come to the surface and take a gander. And I'm not sure I'm loving what I see. I've moved quite a bit post-military and every single recruiter that has guided me in hiring has been AWESOME. But I know now they are beyond super-busy. Grace is a two-way street.

Every candidate who gets to a 1st round interview or further on a role I work on is offered a debrief call. 📱 This helps me uncover areas of improvement from the employer side along with providing feedback to help set the individual up for success in future interviews. 🌱 My meeting format: o Set the expectation/purpose of the meeting o Ask what the candidate liked and what they think could be improved ❓ o Actively listen, interact and take notes✍🏾 o Provide feedback with the lens of growth o End call with an open door of communication When providing feedback, I preface two things: 1. Relativity: Interview performance might be based relative to how others did (it does not mean you aren’t qualified) 2. Perception: Feedback is based on how a hiring manager perceives something along with how a candidate communicates it. Sometimes misperception is the responsibility of the hiring manager, sometimes it’s on how the candidate communicates. I think the biggest mistake people can make in an interview is being too honest. Crazy right?! The thing I have seen a lot from interviewing. Is admitting "I don't know something" and leaving it at that. Killing the interview and your chances of obtaining the job. But, chances are that you do know! Many job seekers have experienced a scenario in a job that can properly answer the question given to them in an interview. Try this: Practice answering questions with how YOU would solve for something that "you don't know." Give them an example that you were a part of, use the STAR method to assist you. Tell them direct impact, what you learned from the example, what you would have done to optimize the result. Good hiring team is looking for candidates who can be coachable especially in lower level positions. Take ownership of the example to answer the question! Sometimes, being close to the example is as good experience as being the executor of the example. Smart people learn from their own mistakes, but wise people learn from the mistakes of others as well! This kind of approach could be terrible advice or, it might get you a job. Letting a candidate know they aren’t moving forward is not a fun conversation… but there are ways to make it positive. Aside from feedback for continuous improvement, providing more context to what happened in the process is super helpful. I recently released a few candidates for a design engineer role. 330+ candidates did not make a screening call with me. 11 made it to a screening call and only 7 progressed into further stages. The candidates that learned how far they actually got left with a sense of gratitude and accomplishment even without a job offer. #interviewing #recruitment #TAtips

When applying for a job make sure you have the experience they are looking for on your resume For instance: 👉🏻If you are applying for a job that requires you to have C++ experience put it on your resume. 👉🏻If the job requires fastener aerospace sales experience, somewhere on your resume should be the words "fastener" "aerospace" and "sales". 👉🏻If the position requires hands on tool design experience make sure you put down that you have "hands on" "tool design" experience. Make sure your resume reflects the job you are applying for. Don't make recruiters and hiring managers do extra work. Not all of them will ask, they just might automatically reject you. Job search is not easy, but by taking a few minutes to make the necessary adjustments on your resume, will make a big difference. I've been noticing a concerning trend lately. It's disheartening to see job applicants feeling frustrated and discouraged due to lack of communication during the hiring process. In a world filled with technological advancements, it's surprising that many applicants are still getting ghosted after applying for a job. Every applicant, regardless of their qualifications, deserves a response. It only takes a few seconds to send a scripted message informing them about their application status. Whether they are a perfect fit or not, a simple rejection email goes a long way in showing respect for their time and effort. Let's strive to do the right thing and treat job applicants with the same respect we would want for ourselves. Communication is key in every aspect of business, especially in the hiring process.
