ICYMI the Supreme Court recently overturned a legal precedent known as the "Chevron doctrine" or "Chevron deference" that has guided how the US implements law through regulations for the past 40 years. This will require increased Congressional capacity. THE GOOD NEWS IS, and you know I always have a silver lining, Congress has shown it can be ready for this new challenge. Congress is now more empowered to expand upon its recent efforts to modernize, grow and better support its workforce, and upgrade how it uses technology to legislate. Against a backdrop of rising political violence in the U.S., in our latest report, together with Story Strategy Group, we examine to what extent young men are engaging with content that carries an ultranationalist narrative, which historically has been associated with political violence? In short, it's mostly older men building the content ecosystems that carry the ultranationalist narrative. But it's complicated. Young men are engaging with the first beat of the narrative, the idea that society has become “decadent, degraded, impure.” And there are opportunities for resilience building already in young men's preferred mode of engagement: play. It seems the transition plan in Ohio’s HB 427 comes up in conversation quite a bit. Here are four key areas to focus when developing an individualized transition plan versus a standardized transition plan. 1. Individual Differences. Each individual with a disability is unique and may have different needs, skills, and abilities. A standardized plan may not take into account these individual differences and could lead to inadequate support for some individuals. 2. Varied Employment Options. The job market offers a wide range of employment opportunities, including both competitive integrated employment and supported employment. A standardized plan would not consider all available options and would limit choices for individuals. 3. Complexity of Disabilities. Some disabilities may require specialized support and accommodations in the workplace. A standardized plan would not address the complex needs of individuals with specific disabilities, thus leading to potential challenges in finding and maintaining employment. 4. Community Resources. Different communities have varying levels of support and resources available for individuals with disabilities. A standardized plan would not account for these differences, resulting in unequal access to necessary services and supports. It is essential to balance individualized support with systemic approaches to ensure successful outcomes for individuals with disabilities seeking fair wages and meaningful employment opportunities.

Recommended read for anyone concerned with the state of American democracy and interested in how to become part of the solution. Dr. Heidi Burgess and Dr. Guy Burgess in their Beyond Intractability substack break the U.S. into three categories: 1. True believers (vocal/active ideological extremes on both sides...14% of the population), 2. Transpartisan pro-democracy activists (people willing to set aside ideologies/party allegiance to pursue solutions together), and 3. The disillusioned, disengaged, and politically homeless (everyone else). "If people assume they can't do anything to improve the political conflict in the United States, the situation will continue to deteriorate.  If they assume it will all turn out all right, they are depending on others to fix things for them.  So far, that hasn't worked out very well...the thing to do is to work for a future that we can all believe in, in a constructive, rather than escalating, polarizing, and hence self-defeating way.  And the best way to do that...is to treat everyone with respect (even those who may not deserve it), to listen to what they have to say (including people we profoundly disagree with), and try to figure out a way in which we can all work together to reach the goals that we all want." https://lnkd.in/eAApjQZm.
