Topological Methods for Visualization
In this 2.5 hour lecture, I introduced basic topological concepts, including topological spaces, homeomorphisms, homotopy, and Betti numbers. Then I introduced scalar field topology and vector field topology, and gave some examples or applications from recent literature.

Electro-Magnetic Motor
As part of a full-day event for middle-school girls in Santa Fe, NM, two colleagues and I taught two 90-minute workshops on electricity and electromagnetism. Our students learned about magnetic fields that are generated by magnets and through electricity. As part of the workshop, they built small electromagnetic motors from a battery, safety pins, duct tape, a magnet, and some wire. -

Education
I conceptualized a soldering workshop for beginners and organized two events during which that concept was put into practice. During the 4-6 hour workshop, the participants got a basic introduction (how soldering works, safety advice), and then hands-on practice starting with soldering wires, through-hole soldering, and SMD soldering. We had a wide range of ages (children, teenagers, adults of all ages). Most participants had no prior soldering experience.

Education
During the full-day workshop, participants got an introduction to micro-controller programming, and hands-on training starting from simple LED blinking to programming LCDs or steering motors. We had a wide range of ages, from children (under supervision of guardians) up to retirees. Backgrounds ranged from no prior programming experience to people with degrees in engineering.
