So grateful for Brooke Sharver and our amazing Sales Team at the Embassy Suites! We collaborated on a presentation about what makes a ‘Suite’ Sales Team Candy Salad (pun intended🤣) at our monthly sales meeting and it went awesome! It is easy to point out these characteristics when you see them showcased everyday within your own team! I listed below what characteristics we chose to highlight and what candies we paired with it!🍬 1. Presence- The bowl (got to be present to hold everything together) 2. Positivity- Haribo Unicorn-i-licious (positivity brings a magic energy into the workplace) 3. Communication- Peach Rings (communication should be continuous) 4. Flexibility- Sour Punch Straw Bites (gotta be flexible with your routine and roll with the ‘punches’) 5. Service Recovery- Sour Patch Kids (a situation can start sour but make it end up sweet) 6. Collaboration- Nerd Clusters (teamwork is everything) 7. Adaptability- Swedish Fish (change can make you feel like a fish out of water but we can always adapt) 8. Balance- Twin Snakes (balance is crucial to your mental well-being) 9. Internal Relationships- Lucky Charm Marshmallows (i am lucky to have a great team) 10. Safety Trianings- Lifesavers (safety and awareness should never be overlooked) 11. Time Management- Air Head Xtremes (it is ‘Xtremly’ important to make the most of your time) 12. Responsibility- Sour Skittles (take ownership) 13. Patience- Starburst (when you feel like your going to ‘burst’ don’t forget to take a breath and be patient) 14. Every now and then, you speak with someone—whether on the phone, a video call, or even through an email—and you can feel their kindness radiating through. This has happened to me several times this week! These types of interactions fill my cup 🥤. Taking just a couple of seconds out of your day to spread joy or share a positive message can make a world of difference. A simple "thank you for your time" or a genuine "How are you doing today?" (with a real intent to listen to the other person's response) can change the trajectory of someone's entire WEEK. It's cliché and pretty obvious but... a small act of kindness has a ripple effect, passing that positive energy on and making someone else's day better too. Let's make a conscious effort to spread kindness and positivity in our interactions. You never know how far a little bit of goodwill can go. "Every small, unselfish action (yes, even in the workplace) nudges the world into a better path. An accumulation of small acts can change the world."

Here's a recap of everything I accomplished this week (Jun. 17 - Jun. 23): -         On Jun 17, I had an interview for a help desk support position over teams. I think it went very well. I think I came across as bright, and eager to learn and positive. -         On Jun 17 and 18, I mainly studied for Security+. I came up with a concrete study plan that works for me. I also decided to move my exam date back one more week. This will be the last time I do. Can’t waste too much time on this. Eventually I will want to start studying for CySA+ too, but it will be a while before I book that exam. And I also have to get this exam done, and pass it, before 601 expires at the end of July. -         Applied to 4 jobs. -         On Jun. 20, I had another interview, this time in person, and I think this one went great too. It lasted an hour, since we had a lot to discuss. I have a good feeling about this one. -         On Jun. 21, I did some more Messer review and a few domain specific practice quizzes. -         On Jun 22, I came up with a flash card system that works for me. I will use it to write down every wrong practice question I’ve done, the multiple-choice options, the answer on the back, and an explanation as to why it’s correct and the others are wrong. I am making considerable progress compared to where I was a couple of weeks back. -         On Jun 23, I finished up the 3rd domain of content for the Security+ exam. It’s a lot of work but it’s going to pay off. #cybersecurity #securityplus #continuouslearning

Belonging Today is the day! After 1 year and 5 months in PHL without once eating a Cheesesteak (celiacs) We are moving back to Chicago, my hometown. (No pizza for me) We've moved a lot over the past few years. (Story for another day) And as a speaker on the topic of belonging, a few things have been affirmed to me that apply both personally and professionally 1. Belonging starts with ourselves - examining the judgements, stories, biases and narratives we have about ourselves, others, the Eagles...can reveal possible roadblocks we are putting up. 2. Belonging starts with "Hello" - I met my Philly BFF the second day in town on the Ben Franklin Bridge as I was running toward NJ and she was running toward PHL (We call it the Bridge to Belonging) 3. Belonging requires curiosity. It's not a one way street. In order to form connection, we need to explore new potential relationships by really listening and asking questions. It's not just about people getting to know you. 4. Belonging takes risk. Leaning into "YES" and answering to the desire of all of our hearts to be a part of something. 5. Belonging requires being out of our comfort zone and that can mean being brave enough to be alone. 6. True belonging means doing the most courageous thing you can do, making the decision to show up authentically and making it safe for others to do the same. Hello Chicago! I'm back! I’ll never forget the day when a team member came to me, visibly upset about a personal issue. Instead of brushing it off as unrelated to work, I took the time to listen, empathize, and offer support. Subsequently, I began to notice a great improvement in her job performance and I realised how a simple act of listening to a team member can improve the overall team performance. That moment taught me the power of leading with empathy. By showing understanding and compassion, not only did I help my team member through a tough time, but I also strengthened our bond and trust. Today, I strive to lead with empathy in all aspects of team management. Because when we truly understand and support each other, we can achieve greatness together. #opeyemisodipe

I tell all my clients this valuable bit of advice… When it comes to speeches, get a neutral member of your wedding party (whether a coworker or a friend) to read all of the speeches to make sure there are no anecdotes or stories repeated. You often did whatever the job required versus now when roles are so fragmented with a ton of different job titles and swim lanes. I'm not indecisive! What a quote! What a strong combination of words in same sentence. Leaders are to care for the development of their people first, as their team will deliver whichever results it's aimed for if they are well guided, inspired and motivate to do so. When results cross the care level and the human touch - in all senses -, you lose the most valuable you have as a leader: being an inspiration to others to become like you someday.

🏩 Legend has it that Cary Grant started this.👇🏼 Staying at the Mayfair Hotel in St Louis, he left a trail of chocolates leading his lover, finally, to his pillow, and this became a tradition both there and in hotels across the world. I have stayed in lots of hotels who leave a chocolate on their guests' pillow in the evening, in an effort to communicate a 'seal of quality' for that hotel. However, many of those hotels have fallen severely short in terms of comfort, cleanliness and maintenance, and, of particular relevance to me, the accessibility of their facilities. In conversation with a school leader recently, we talked about how easy it is for school's to fall into this trap. Amid a competitive marketplace, both leadership and marketing teams can settle on the next shiny thing, both as their strategic priority and their marketing hook, without getting the basics right first. Because genuine glitter is an emergent state, not an hedonic high: the blossom from a tree whose roots are nourished by submerged soil millennia in the making. So is it in the soil of a school's culture and climate that beautiful things will germinate and grow, even before we see them blossom and bloom. Nathan Boller shared with me recently the proverb, 'For want of a nail': "For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the message was lost. For want of a message the battle was lost. For want of a battle the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe nail." Or thereabouts. The Middle High German poet, Freidank, warned us about this 800 years ago, and yet it remains too easy for schools today to forget about that nail. The late, great, Stephen R. Covey once wrote, "The main thing is to keep the main thing". I challenge schools to ask themselves, "What is ours?". Because this will, or should, not be superficial, changing from year to year, or administration to administration. It should be in your soil. I know what I think. Together, our main thing should be to put and keep #WellbeingFirst, for everyone, from the margins inwards, without condition or exception. This is The Mona Lisa Effect®, and I believe that parents worldwide want this too. Done intentionally and well, the entire ecosystem benefits, and, sure enough, the flowers will flourish and bloom.
