Business Asset Rollover Relief also known as CGT Rollover Relief allows for deferral of Capital Gains Tax (CGT) on gains made when taxpayers sell or dispose of certain assets and use all or part of the proceeds to buy new business assets. The relief means that the tax on the gain of the old asset is postponed. The amount of the gain is effectively rolled over into the cost of the new asset and any CGT liability is deferred until the new asset is sold. #CGT #CGTRolloverRelief

The administration process was designed to protect a company from creditor pressure whilst a plan for rescue or restructure is put in place. One of the exit routes from administration is the sale of a company as a going concern, and this can be made on an ‘open market’ basis or via a pre packaged sale. Full control of the company passes to the administrators on their appointment, but in a pre pack sale out of administration, existing directors or shareholders may purchase the underlying assets of the old business to form a ‘new co.’ Begbies Traynor can help you decide the best way forward for your company, and provide professional advice on any aspect of corporate insolvency. https://lnkd.in/d22kQkTp

Exclusive: Small Business Minister shies away from permanent $20,000 instant asset write-off, for now Minister for Small Business Julie Collins has shied away from permanent changes to the instant asset write-off scheme, as small businesses endure another anxious wait for the cashflow-boosting measure to become law. Legislation underpinning the instant asset write-off scheme for the 2023-2024 financial year is yet to pass through Parliament, with only four sitting days remaining on the calendar before July 1. The Labor government is pushing for eligible small business purchases worth up to $20,000 to receive instant tax deductions. But Coalition-led amendments, which passed in the Senate, call for a $30,000 limit and expanded business eligibility. https://lnkd.in/giMEGyJH

Since its inception, many commentators and I have raised concerns about the Industry Funding Model (or "ASIC tax") used by #ASIC, particularly regarding how unfair it is for external administrators. This has finally been acknowledged! In its well publicised report calling for the breaking-up, and starting again, of ASIC, the Senate Economics References Committee has labelled the ASIC tax as "inequitable and inefficient" as well as "poorly calculated and lack transparency." An excerpt is below in the picture. For FY24, the ASIC tax for 675 registered liquidators was $7.304m (or c$10.8k per person). Crazy! Yet, it is almost impossible to tell how this amount was calculated or for what purpose it serves (other than being a cash-cow for the Government). Given the bipartisan approach in this report, hopefully this means the Government will finally sit up and listen to our concerns. Good on the Stockbrokers and Investment Advisers Association (among others) on cutting through on this issue; getting more than 26 references in the Report. #svvoidables #insolvency

▶️ EOFY Tip . Do you have a Directors Loan on your Balance Sheet? Have a chat to your accountant about the best way of dealing with this before 30 June. There may or may not be tax implications so best to be prepared rather than get a shock at tax time! 😱 . #SmallBusiness #SmartBusiness #EndOfFinancialYear #Xero #Bookkeeping #planning #eofy

How to make the most of your stage three tax cuts.................. If you have an outstanding credit card balance of $10,000 with a rate of 15%, increasing repayments from $200 to $400 a month once stage three tax cuts are implemented could see the debt cleared 2.5 years sooner, with an overall interest saving of $13,694. https://lnkd.in/gSYSCKvK

If you have been in the same job for two years or more and are made redundant you will usually be entitled to redundancy money. The legal minimum that you are entitled to receive is known as ‘statutory redundancy pay’. There are exceptions where you are not entitled to statutory redundancy pay, for example, if your employer offers to keep you on or offers you suitable alternative work which you refuse without good reason. #Redundancy #RedundancyPay

Where a taxpayer owns a business as a sole trader or in partnership, a capital gain will be deemed to arise if the business is converted into a company by reference to the market value of the business assets including goodwill. This could give rise to a chargeable gain based on the difference between the market value of the assets and their original cost. #Incorporation #IncorporationTaxRelief

ZA is pleased to share comments on the Finance Bill, 2024. Non-filers and late filers of returns will face heavy tax burdens, while exporters will be subjected to the normal tax regime. The revamping of slab rates for the salaried class will lead to increased tax burdens. Stay informed about these changes and their potential impact. #FinanceBill2024 #TaxationChanges #budget2024-25
