Projects

  • Explicit Latent Spaces with Ranking Algorithms

Built a system that trains on pairwise data and creates explicit sentiment-labeled rank embeddings
Built a user interface for labeling image pairs, improved the selection methodology for a 10x improvement in speed
Labeled data and trained models that demonstrated the feasibility of the idea, and put them to work ranking my own data

  • Real-time Mileage Tracking over IoT

    - Present

Wrote a small code package that will record more than a dozen real-time operating characteristics from a car using the OBDII port.
Set up real-time feedback for mileage, engine efficiency, and error code warnings based on data feeds.
Working on IoT integration using a Raspberry Pi.

  • Wifi-controlled Automatic Plant Waterer

    - Present

Using two ESP-8266 microcontrollers, a system of valves was constructed that can be operated wirelessly through a phone or other device on the network in order to water up to 8 plants or planter pots. A second ESP-8266 is used to measure soil moisture levels and wirelessly transmit that data to the valve operator device, thus allowing automatic watering when soil moisture drops below a user-programmable threshold, with different thresholds programmable for different plants.

  • Automobile Airflow Enhancers

    - Present

Modeled and 3D printed vortex generators that magnetically mount on a car to improve flow attachment.
Reconstructed a 3D model from a set of 800 images using coded photogrammetry targets and spray texturing.
Performed RANS simulation with SST turbulence modeling to examine airflow separation.

Honors & Awards

  • 1st Place

    Hack and Tell

Built an interface that would allow users to assemble a pipeline from a number of filtering algorithms, in order to generate the best possible clean data from a set of 3D tensor arrays.
