Today is World Zoonoses Day – let's talk about what zoonotic diseases are and how we combat them. Zoonoses are diseases, such as rabies, that can spread from animals to people, and vice versa. As part of our commitment to a healthier, more sustainable future, our scientists combat diseases like these that pose the greatest risk to animals and humans. We support critical vaccination programs around the world – including our designation by the [tag] World Organisation for Animal Health as one of the vaccine bank’s only two approved rabies vaccine suppliers. We also collaborate with local communities, veterinary professionals and public health organizations to actively monitor and work toward preventing zoonotic diseases. We recognize the growing challenges affecting animals and communities due to natural disasters. To help address these issues, we are dedicated to bolstering disaster preparedness efforts and providing aid for communities and animals impacted by disasters. The Zoetis Foundation is honored to help bring this commitment to life by providing a $3 million grant to the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program to be utilized over a six-year period. The grant provides essential emergency relief to families and communities globally impacted by disasters. This builds on Zoetis’ long-standing partnership with American Humane to help ensure animal safety in disaster-stricken areas and to advocate for increased preparedness among pet owners. Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of participating in the Petcare Innovation Europe Summit from Kisaco Research in Berlin, Germany. Our team kicked off the event with a presentation of key insights from our recently published Human Animal Bond report. Florian Schalke, our International Public Affairs Lead, underscored the shared health benefits of the bond and voiced the need for advancements in companion animal policy to improve human and animal health and wellbeing. The insights Florian shared set the tone for the remainder of the event and were reinforced in a panel Julia von Gablenz, our Senior Vice President & Cluster Lead Central Europe, joined. The panelists discussed the biggest opportunities across the companion animal industry, including increasing collaboration to drive innovation and customer satisfaction. It was an insightful event and a great opportunity to connect with industry peers. We invite you to dive deeper into the Human Animal Bond report here: https://lnkd.in/eS65p2mK

We believe that overcoming complex sustainability challenges related to the health and welfare of livestock and pets requires strategic collaborations. From our partnership with Royal Canin Indonesia on World Rabies Day to our research collaboration with Blacksmith Medicines to reduce the dependency on antibiotic classes shared with human health to our work with Dairy Management Inc., and Texas A&M University that enables the modeling of environmental footprints of dairy and beef farms, we're focused on creating and driving adoption of key sustainable animal health solutions. As we celebrate Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S., we honor this momentous milestone in Black History as we continue to strive for diversity, equity and inclusion within Zoetis, the veterinary profession and the animal health industry. We also want to recognize the impact of our BELIEVERS Colleague Resource Group (Black Employees Leading in Inclusion, Equity, Vision, Education, Recruitment and Strategy). The BELIEVERS CRG seeks to ensure all colleagues feel included and are treated fairly, while providing educational and mentorship programs that will develop and inspire growth for all individuals and Zoetis… now, tomorrow and in the future. To recognize Juneteenth, our BELIEVERS CRG held a two-part virtual learning session for all of our colleagues this month, where they explored the roots and cultural significance of Juneteenth, shared knowledge and trivia, and held interactive discussions. We thank BELIEVERS for all that they do to advance diversity, equity and inclusion at Zoetis! #Juneteenth #DiversityEquityInclusion
