There's a lot more on July 4. More gatherings. More heat. More agitation. More alcohol. What could go wrong? 🤷♂️ Unsurprisingly, gun-related violence on or around the holiday keeps hitting record-worst highs every year. Hearing all the pops can be nervewracking. Is it a celebration or catastrophe? Since people typically don't expect to hear gunfire, many are quick to associate the sound with something they're more used to, like fireworks. Five tips to help you tell the difference... 💥 Gunshots are typically louder and sharper than fireworks...often followed by a brief silence. 💥 Fireworks are more sporadic. Gunshots have a certain cadence and tend to be heard in quick succession. 💥 It's not uncommon to hear crackling, sizzling and whistling with fireworks. Not so with guns. 💥 No smoking: You might see smoke from where a firework has gone off, but you probably won't see smoke from a gunshot. So if you hear a 'pop-pop-pop' but don't see any smoke, it could be gunshots. 💥 Still in doubt? Call #lawenforcement. Better safe than sorry. Have any more tips? Share them here! #publicsafety #security #gunviolence

Why did Axios Pro Rata call us "the BFD" today? Because we secured $53M+ in Series B funding to help end mass shootings. The round was led by Sorenson Capital with major participation from Intel Capital BroadLight Capital and our existing insiders. Our CEO and Co-founder Mike Lahiff told Axios about our nearly 400 clients, and that there have been over a dozen arrests as a result of our software. "Every time a shooting happens, people give thoughts and prayers," Lahiff said. "That's bulls**t. Let's do something." Read it now: https://lnkd.in/gmXACGw5 (Thanks, Dan Primack!) Proud to be the #weaponsdetection analytics market leader. 🔥 More big news coming soon... #venturecapital #publicsafety #security #schoolsafety

Gun violence deaths soared 703% from February to May, leaping from 28 to 225. Now, this month's been particularly brutal for #gunviolence in the U.S., with nearly 400 shootings so far. And the month isn't over. We still have another weekend ahead...and weekends haven't been kind to June when it comes to mass shootings. "That's just the way it is now in America," some shrug and say. Unacceptable. We, the people, don't have to—and shouldn't—wait for someone else to take action. Tangible things can already be done to help stop gun violence—𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭. (And be honest: Do you think they'll ever *really* be able to agree enough to figure it out anytime soon?) As the country braces for another weekend, it's crucial to know that back-to-school season is notoriously rife with gun-related violence... ❗️Get ahead: Now through the end of September, you can get discounted ZeroEyes pricing and support in finding grants or funding.
