Yesterday, we hosted a farewell celebration for our incredible legal advocate, Valentina. Over the past 2 years, Valentina has provided guidance and support to countless individuals and families experiencing domestic violence. While we are sad to see her go, we're also thrilled for her to embark on a new journey at the University of Washington School of Law. We're certain she will continue to make a difference and inspire others. Thank you, Valentina, for everything you've done for YWCA Yakima and our clients. You will be greatly missed, but we are so excited to see where the future takes you! ⚖️❤️ Gratefully, Your YWCA Yakima Team

📣 What should you take with you when escaping domestic violence? Leaving a domestic violence situation isn't easy - in fact, it can be a frightening experience. That's why it's important to have a safety plan in place that can help eliminate the fear and uneasiness. One thing a safety plan helps with is knowing what you should take once you're ready to leave. Below are a few key things to pack: 📝 Important paperwork: Birth certificates, social security cards, driver’s licenses/passports, green card/immigration papers, etc. 💵 Money: Cash and prepaid credit cards that can’t be traced, credit cards and the PIN numbers you need to withdraw cash, and checks 📲 Communication: A post office box or safe address where you can forward your mail, a prepaid cell phone or a cell phone with a new contract and number, cell phone contacts. 🏥 Medical Supplies: Current medications and prescriptions, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and any other medical devices. ➡ If you, or someone you know, is experiencing abuse, call (509) 248-7796 to speak with an advocate today. Remember, you are never alone - we are here for you.
