July 9th is Black Women's Equal Pay Day. Black women would have had to work an additional 190 days this year to make up for what white men made the year before. YWCA South Florida strives to help black women close this gap through our economic prosperity programs. The WE360 entrepreneurship program supports women of color in overcoming barriers to starting businesses by providing them with education and mentorship to drive their success as entrepreneurs. We're in the news! Local 10 News recently visited our summer camp program to educate the community on the importance of accessible care for our kids. Our free camp, available for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, is designed to keep kids entertained and educated with engaging activities like STEM and literacy lessons. Today, we celebrate Juneteenth. This holiday commemorates the day, nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, that enslaved Africans in Galveston, Texas, were finally declared free by the U.S. Army. We take this time to recommit ourselves to dismantling systemic racism and oppression in all its forms. Together, we can create a more equitable and inclusive society for all. 🧡 You can join us by advocating for racial justice, supporting Black-owned businesses, amplifying Black voices in our communities and participating in events in our community.

We had a successful first week of YWCA South Florida’s Summer Camp! 🥳 Our young campers have already dived into an array of fun and educational activities. We can't wait to see what the rest of the summer holds!
