We are happy to announce the appointment of Eric Weislogel as our new Board Chairperson & Chief Volunteer Officer. Eric has been a member of the Y's Board of Directors since 2019 and works as a Manager at Wegmans Food Markets on Peach St. Eric says the YMCA has played an important role in his life since a young age. He has fond memories of playing bumper pool at the Glenwood Y and participating in outings at Camp Sherwin. Now he enjoys spending time with his sons at the Y, and staying active to maintain his physical and mental health. "The Y has introduced me to some of the best people I will ever meet. I am so grateful for everything the Y has to offer my family and our community, and I look forward to giving back in any way I can." Eric is also active with Mercyhurst University, the United Way and the ExpERIEnce Children's Museum. We are excited for Eric's leadership and look forward to all that is to come!

The Y introduced the country to group swim lessons 115 years ago. Now, as one of the largest community-based organizations in the country, we teach more than a million children, especially those most at risk of drowning, invaluable water safety and swimming skills each year. Thank you to the team at JET/FOX/YourErie for allowing us to help educate the Erie Community about the importance of Water Safety and Drowning Prevention.

LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT! Sean Beers has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the YMCA of Greater Erie. Sean brings nearly two decades of invaluable experience to this position, having worked in and led in various capacities across all of our Erie Y locations. His dedication and commitment to our mission have been evident throughout his tenure, and his extensive community involvement with organizations such as Erie County Re-Entry Services and Support Alliance, the Housing Authority, and various smaller community groups underscores his deep-rooted connection to the Greater Erie community. Sean's leadership has been instrumental in several significant initiatives, notably his pivotal role in spearheading the establishment of the Teen Center at the Downtown Y. Furthermore, his service on the Pennsylvania State Alliance of YMCAs Policy and Planning Committee showcases his strategic vision and commitment to advancing our organization's goals at a broader level. As we embark on a new strategic plan and navigate through numerous evolving initiatives within our association and community, I am confident that Sean's experience and expertise will be invaluable assets in guiding our efforts forward. His passion for our mission, coupled with his proven track record of leadership and community engagement, makes him the ideal candidate to help us through these exciting times. In the interim period for the remainder of 2024, Sean will continue to directly oversee the operations of the Eastside Y. However, we plan to post this position in the Fall with the aim of welcoming a new Executive Director at that location in early 2025. Help us congratulation Sean on his new role. His leadership we will help us continue to thrive and make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our YMCA community.
