Updates

  • Yamaha Rightwaters recently renewed its sponsorship of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust (BTT), a relationship that began in June of 2022 when Yamaha became the official outboard of BTT. With continued support from Yamaha Rightwaters, BTT will advance its international mission to conserve bonefish, tarpon, and permit species as well as their habitats. Since June of 2022, BTT has expanded its Juvenile Tarpon Habitat Initiative, leading the planning of a 1,000-plus-acre tarpon habitat restoration project in Southwest Florida. BTT also continues to advance its mission in the Florida Keys, where the organization was founded more than 25 years ago. Yamaha Rightwaters provided an outboard to power the BTT research boat used to research bonefish spawning in the region. In addition to renewing its sponsorship of BTT, Yamaha Rightwaters also  provided a Yamaha F70 outboard for “The Florida Boat Sweepstakes.” Part of BTT’s Win Back Our Water campaign, “The Florida Boat Sweepstakes” runs from May 3 to August 15, 2024. Win Back Our Water educates and encourages Floridians to take action to protect the state’s waterways and builds on BTT’s water quality priorities, most notably advocacy in support of Everglades restoration. The campaign emphasizes the importance of water quality not only for marine ecosystems but also for the many Floridians who depend on clean water for their livelihoods, recreation, and quality of life. • At Yamaha, we believe in the power of unity and the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued. Let’s use this occasion to educate ourselves, engage in meaningful conversations, and support initiatives that promote equality.   Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States just following the Civil War in 1865.   This day is not just a commemoration of freedom, but also a celebration of resilience, culture, and the ongoing journey towards equality and justice. It is a time for us to reflect on our collective history, recognize the struggles and triumphs of Black Americans, and reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within Yamaha Motor Corporation.   #yamaha #yamahamotor #juneteenth #freedomday #Equality

  • Last week, interns from our Georgia campuses had the opportunity to attend our Marine Product Day. These product days are designed to familiarize our interns with Yamaha's wide variety of outdoor products. On the water, they experienced various Yamaha jet boats, bay boats, and pontoon boats. Our interns had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the innovations and performance of our watercraft and outboard motors and see firsthand the same reliability and performance our products offer our customers.   Thank you to our knowledgeable Yamaha Captains and Yamaha Marine and Watercraft group for making this product day possible.   #yamaha #yamahamotor #yamahainternship #lifeatyamahamotor #marine #internship #interns

  • Last month, Yamaha Marine Service led another outboard motor training session with the Alaska Maritime Education Consortium (AMEC) members in Valdez, Alaska. AMEC is a partnership between The University of Alaska (UA) and the Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC).   These trainings are crucial in rural Alaska, as many Alaskan communities depend on a skilled workforce to service the boats and outboards that fuel a healthy, sustainable marine industry. Inspired by the late Congressman Don Young, the outboard motor training is a culmination of the Yamaha Marine Training Program Agreement signed by Governor Mike Dunleavy, University of Alaska President Pat Pitney, former Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter and Ben Speciale, President, Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit. The agreement established an infrastructure for Yamaha Marine products training across the state, specifically in remote regions. It also allows AMEC to acquire materials at or below cost, including outboard motors and tools.   Yamaha began offering technician training courses at Prince William Sound College (PWSC) in 2021. Since then, AMEC has adopted the training template, allowing them to share the Yamaha training across the rest of the state. The map above shows the locations of all participants who have gone through the course since 2021.   We are proud to be a leader in the Marine Technician Program, supporting a vital link of marine transportation and industry in Alaska.  #yamaha #yamahamotor #marine #alaska #training #learning
