Many congratulations to the newest members of the World Golf Hall of Fame Padraig Harrington, Tom Weiskopf, Beverly Hanson, Johnny Farrell, and the remaining founders of the LPGA Tour - Alice Bauer, Bettye Danoff, Helen Dettweiler, Helen Hicks, Opal Hill, Sally Sessions and Shirley Spork.   Their accomplishments to our great game will forever serve as a catalyst for golfers to follow globally. I am proud to share our sport’s top honour alongside them all and look forward to visiting the new facility at Pinehurst to reflect on the career and lives of so many outstanding professionals. GP

It’s Father’s Day and U.S. Open Sunday! Retief Goosen, a father of two, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his second U.S. Open championship title. Goosen rode a hot putter (31 one-putts over 72 holes) to a two stroke victory over Phil Mickelson at Shinnecock Hills. Happy Father’s Day and enjoy the final round!

Hale Irwin won the first of his three U.S. Open championships at Winged Foot 50 years ago this Sunday. Winged Foot played extremely difficult throughout the tournament, leading sportswriter Dick Schaap to coin the phrase “The Massacre at Winged Foot”. Irwin finished the tournament at +7 (287) to win by two shots. The 106th U.S. Open gets underway tomorrow at Pinehurst! #USOpen United States Golf Association (USGA)

Stephen Curry of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors is this year’s recipient of The Charlie Sifford Award presented by Southern Company. Curry's golf accomplishments include launching Underrated Golf in 2021, a purpose-driven business endeavor with the overarching commitment to provide equity, access, and opportunity to student-athletes from every community by balancing participation in the sport to truly reflect our society. In 2019 he helped Howard University to compete on the D-1 level by funding the golf team for the next six years. Howard did not have a golf team since the 1970s, and this is the first on the Division 1 level in school history. We applaud Steph’s efforts to share and grow the game of golf.

Charlie Sifford was the first African American to earn a PGA TOUR card and the first black golfer to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. The Charlie Sifford Award presented by Southern Company was created in 2021 to honor an individual who personifies Sifford's groundbreaking achievements through perseverance, confidence, respect, and adaptability. We are looking forward to honoring this year’s recipient, National Basketball Association (NBA) star Stephen Curry, as part of our Induction Ceremony next Monday.

This year's World Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony presented by CME Group is just one week away! Three-time major champion Beverly Hanson is among this year’s inductees. Hanson won 17 Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) events in her career. Her major championship victories came at the inaugural LPGA Championship (now the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship) in 1955, the Western Open in 1956, and the Titleholders Championship in 1958. She was also the leading money winner in 1958. We look forward to celebrating Beverly’s noteworthy career along with the other inductees next Monday (June 10th) at 7p ET, airing live on Golf Channel.
