Advancing knowledge, research, and praxis of intercultural and global competence globally.

About us

The World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence is a global non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to connecting researchers and practitioners across disciplines, sectors, languages and countries to advance the knowledge, research and praxis of intercultural competence globally in the pursuit of a more peaceful world. The World Council community is comprised of collaborative network of intercultural experts and scholars (some of whom are ICC Advisors to the World Council), educators, students, policymakers, practitioners across all sectors, and anyone passionate about intercultural and global competence from around the world who come together through numerous working groups to learn from and with each other. The World Council is also active in publishing some of the latest work on intercultural and global competence through its bi-annual publication Intercultural Connector and blog. The World Council promotes concrete methodologies for developing intercultural competence such as the UNESCO Story Circles. Its community members are interested in researching various aspects of intercultural and global competence and translating such research into real-world application, through grant-funded projects, toolkits, and other resources. • The Intersection of ICC Influencers and Policy Makers is pleased to announce a special presentation next week from Katherine Yngve; Equity-Centered Learning & Teaching Expert! Wednesday, July 3 at 11:30am US Eastern Time Title: Working Effectively with People & Institutions That Are Resistant to Change Often in our work, we want to advance a policy of change. To us, the need for change seems clearly spelled out by certain data or events; yet, when we advocate for change many people or stakeholder institutions are resistant. This hour-long interactive workshop will introduce 3 approaches to working effectively with change-resistors & some worksheets for proceeding, with plenty of time for reflection and sharing -- hopefully even a little hands-on case study work. Outcome: lowered frustration for World Council members who work at the intersection of intercultural education and policy! To register please click here: https://lnkd.in/dZgiGa7R...

  • FIRST WORLD COUNCIL BOOK WAS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED THIS PAST WEEK AT THE GLOBAL FORUM AND IS NOW AVAILABLE TO ALL - OPEN ACCESS!! Huge congratulations to all the working group contributors to this book, entitled "Current Perspectives on Intercultural and Global Competence." This book is unique in that it features the collective work of those in World Council's Working Groups - truly amazing! Hopefully, this will be the first many such publications through working groups in the World Council. A big thank you goes to one of World Council's Founding Affiliates, the STAR Scholar Network, for their provision of a grant that made it possible to publish this as open access. And of course, the book would not be possible without the contributions of the authors- Huge Congratulations again!! Free to download here: https://lnkd.in/d45i8J8V
