Job seekers, don’t believe everything you hear: that “Open to Work” badge on your profile picture is nothing to be ashamed of. There’s a lot of talk from a number of people on this platform that having this badge seems “desperate” or “needy,” and I’m here to tell you that many HR professionals don’t see it that way. If you got laid off recently and need a new role, use it. If you’re looking for a career change, use it. If you’re a freelancer, use it. Don’t let anyone shame you from letting others know you need a new role. The job search is already hard—don’t let others (who, let’s be honest, probably don’t work in HR) discourage you from making a move that could help connect you to your next chapter.
