Fuji is part of Joanie Lemercier‘s series on volcanoes. It combines a large scale hand drawn landscape depicting the Fujiyama augmented by a layer of projected light. It gives an imaginary and poetic vision of the legend of Kaguya Hime, a folk-tale from the 10th-century. The piece premiered at a projection mapping exhibition in Takamatsu. The Last Word, by the public art collaborative Illegal Art, provides a private moment to recapture what was never said. Participants are invited to anonymously write their unspoken messages and to read how other people’s conversations might have ended. Exhibited in Austin, Texas as part of SXSW's Creative Industries Expo from March 10-13, and open to the public as part of SXSW's Austin Industry Day on March 13. Thanks to Joshua Sewell, Brittani Mathis, and the SXSW team. Photo by Luke Cuccurullo.
