This morning we hosted the official ribbon cutting for the renovated thrift store and 40th anniversary of the Women's Resource Center of Florida, Inc. 🎉 The Women's Resource Center began as a service project from the Junior League of Winter Haven in 1984. This organization has been assisting families in crisis throughout Polk County ever since. Their services include back-to-work programming, mental health counseling, emergency utility assistance, housing assistance and more. They also take donations, so consider them when you are looking to part ways with items in your home like clothing, sheets, towels, baby items and more. Make sure you shop at their newly renovated thrift store! All of the proceeds go back to funding their amazing programming. The Winter Haven Chamber and our wonderful members were invited to SunTrax this morning to hear from Governor Ron DeSantis! As Polk County and Florida continue to grow, it's important to continue the conversation of transportation and infrastructure. Governor DeSantis shared details on the major investments being made in transportation in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation. One of those projects is the development of an additional travel lane on I-4 that will be open as soon as 2025! Congratulations to our friends at Sonny's BBQ on their official groundbreaking 🤩 We are so excited to have them here in Winter Haven. In case you didn't know, Sonny's BBQ is a family-friendly restaurant offering award-winning slow-smoked meats, sandwiches, family meals and catering services. They came ready with delicious meatballs, buffalo chicken dip and pulled pork sliders for the groundbreaking. Not a bad way to break ground.
