Our interns visited Youth Services Network (YSN) to learn more about the programs and services they offer to children, young adults, and families in our community. YSN develops, provides and coordinates services for a variety of concerns including mental health, developmental delays, trauma and truancy. The organization serves thousands of young people in Winnebago and Boone County every year. We appreciate that the staff took time out of their day to meet with our interns and give them a tour of the site.

Big thanks to the YWCA Northwestern Illinois for hosting a site visit for some of our interns this week. They got to hear about the programs and services available to those who need them in our community. The YWCA serves six counties in northern Illinois by providing everything from childcare assistance to racial justice programming.

We promise to provide real courtroom training and experience to future attorneys who intern with our office. In fact, Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 Intern Ranikka Moore second chaired her very first jury trial last week. Under the leadership of Assistant State’s Attorney Emily Palmer, they successfully prosecuted an armed habitual criminal and delivery of a controlled substance case. After a short deliberation, the jury returned guilty verdicts on both counts. Great job securing guilty verdicts on two Class X Felonies.
