We take pride in our 20+ years of hosting teacher externships. These programs in economic development offer educators a special chance to connect classroom teachings with real-world scenarios. During their externship, teachers engage directly with professionals by site visits, meetings, and projects that illustrate how economic theories manifest in practical scenarios. Externships expose teachers to various career pathways related to economics and economic development. They can then guide students in understanding the range of professions available and the skills required in the workforce. They also establish valuable connections with local businesses and experts. These networks provide ongoing resources and potential guest speakers for their classrooms, enriching student learning experiences. Last Friday marked a week of hosting two teacher externs at MEDC and MFTZ. Thank you Miss Sylvia and Mr. Juan Carlos from Weslaco ISD and McAllen ISD respectively, for staying so engaged and for allowing us to show you a bit of how we help our community. Thank you Workforce Solutions, Region One Education Service Center and RIO GRANDE VALLEY LINKING ECONOMIC AND ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT RGV LEAD for building strong partnerships! #econdev #mcallen #mcallenedc #careerpathways #students #teacherexterns

🚨Important announcement🚨 We are experiencing issues with our public resource systems in Rio Grande City (STARR), Mission, and Edinburg centers. This is also including our public printers, which may result in slower response times, and the inability to use these devices. This is due to a worldwide software problem, which is impacting a variety of services globally. The Office of Workforce Technology and our WFS Network Security teams are working to address these issues and restore functionality to our systems as soon as possible.💪 We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your cooperation.
