The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is the largest hunger relief organization in Northeast Ohio and works to ensure that everyone in the neighboring communities has the nutritious food they need to succeed. Yesterday we spent the afternoon assisting with their Healthy Choice Food Market, which allows neighbors to select their own food instead of receiving a pre-packed or standard bags of groceries. With this method, neighbors do not have to take items they already have, do not like, or cannot eat for health or personal reasons. Over the course of the day, 164 volunteers from various organizations were able to accomplish the following: 277 Families Served at the Healthy Choice Food Market 9,903 lbs. of Shelf Stable Donations Sorted 460 lbs. of Rice Packed 2,520 lbs. of Bread Binned 5,328 lbs. of Potatoes Labeled 13 Partner Programs Served in the Marketplace 1,560 Children’s Programing Meals Assembled 7,383 Senior Programming Meals Assembled We are grateful for the work that the GCFB does for the community and look forward to working with them again in the future! Tenant Spotlight || A Carpenter’s Son A Carpenter’s Son, founded by Josh and Laura Scheutzow, began as an Etsy shop where they sold Ohio-shaped cutting boards as a way of raising money to fund the adoption of their son. From there, the business was off and running as they expanded into creating custom furniture. Last Friday the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) held their 34th Annual Promise Ball at the Cleveland Browns Stadium. Weston’s Jamey Asher and his wife, Wendy, chaired the event which is dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. The event raised over $600,000 which will support the next milestone in diabetes research. Please visit jdrf.org to learn more. #jdrf #cleveland #findingacure
