Providing HIV Prevention & Care to 18 counties in WNC since 1986.

About us

The Western North Carolina AIDS Project's (WNCAP) mission is to provide equitable access to care and reduce harm from HIV, Hepatitis C, and drug use. WNCAP began in 1986 in response to the needs of the community in the early years of the AIDS epidemic. The founders had been helping provide food, comfort and care to people with AIDS for several years. Initially, WNCAP was focused on people in Buncombe County but was open to helping anyone in need across the region. In the 1990s, WNCAP began providing case management support, gradually adding prevention services for people at risk of HIV and harm reduction services for people who use drugs. Today, our services include HIV case management, prevention, education, HIV/HCV/STI testing, harm reduction and syringe services, a subsidized pharmacy program, and housing assistance across 18 western North Carolina counties.

  • On Thursday, April 25th, the Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP) will host our annual Dining Out For Life event. Dining Out For Life encourages residents of Asheville and Western North Carolina to eat out at Participating Restaurants. This celebration supports both the local restaurants that host the events and raises money for WNCAP’s life-saving services. Now in its 22nd year, Dining Out for Life has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The money raised by WNCAP’s annual Dining Out for Life is more critical than ever. Your donations provide care, rental assistance, and education in our fight against HIV/AIDS. Dine Out. End HIV. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eWKxt5Xj

  • We are $1,000 away from our Fall Appeal matching challenge grant goal!  While it's true that an HIV diagnosis is not the death sentence it was 40 years ago, in the U.S. there are still more than 35,000 new infections each year, and there are more diagnoses in southern states than any other area in the country. HIV continues to disproportionately impact underserved communities, including those in WNC. Please join us in the fight to eliminate stigma around people living with HIV, and help us provide life-saving services to those who need it. Donate Today! https://lnkd.in/gUEeTRj9 Your generous contribution of any amount will help to fill the gap between the cost of WNCAP's services and partial government funding. Donate before September 30 and have your gift matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 by a generous donor.
