Institutes of higher education are necessary for quality community growth through their creation of a skilled and adaptable #workforce that drives economic and social progress. Recognizing this need, in 1980, WHA worked with the University of Houston to establish the West Houston Institute. This initiative provided greater opportunity for West Houston residents to access high educational opportunities. Over the years and through multiple iterations, these educational opportunities continued to be realized today through the UH Sugar Land and UH Katy campuses. This ongoing #collaboration has significantly contributed to the region's progress in higher #education and workforce development. #ThrowbackThursday #TBT #WestHouston

Bridgeland’s Parkland Square was designed as a regional model of best practices for integrating sustainable features into both the design and construction. This development includes eleven rain gardens, which manage the community’s #stormwater by effectively removing contaminants such as oil, grit, and grease commonly found on streets. The development also features #permeable hardscapes in the cross-graded streets, which reduced project costs and increased the surface area for efficient water #drainage. All these features and more were engineered to improve #mobility and connectivity, enhance residents' overall well-being, and support #sustainability.
