RiNo's Arkins Park is featured in Bruce Dvorak's, FASLA, article in Living Architecture Monitor where he explores several rain gardens for their creative and multifunctional use of plants. "An effective, resilient, and attractive approach to managing stormwater in urban areas can be achieved through a combination of grey infrastructure and a widespread application of nature-based solutions such as rain gardens and green roofs." https://lnkd.in/gMjgqPhA

Yesterday marked a milestone as AC Development broke ground on the transformative Clayworks project. This ambitious redevelopment of a historic five-block site in downtown Golden, Colorado, kicked off with the construction of the CoorsTek, Inc. Headquarters Building. The Clayworks project will bring state-of-the-art office spaces, a boutique hotel, urban apartments, exceptional dining options, and beautifully designed public spaces to our community. This development represents the next chapter for this important property, revitalizing it into a dynamic mixed-use district. The first building at Clayworks will be a four-story, 181,500 square foot commercial building that will serve as the new global headquarters for CoorsTek as well as other smaller tenants, including AC Development, the Adolph Coors Company, and at least one other unrelated tenant. A big thank you to everyone involved in this journey, especially the Coors family, AC Development, and the City of Golden. Your dedication and vision have paved the way for a vibrant future. Wenk Associates is delighted to have our long-time friend and collaborator, Lisa Zoeller, join our firm to assist us with our public engagement and business strategy efforts.   Lisa brings over 35 years of experience working with local governments, elected officials, neighborhoods, media, businesses, and non-profit organizations in the Denver area. In 2009, she founded Zoeller Consulting LLC, where she served as a consultant to municipalities regarding community outreach, governmental relations, and public relations. During that time, Wenk collaborated with Lisa on many projects across the Metro Denver Area including the Denver’s Confluence Park Master Plan; the US Army Corps of Engineers Urban Waterways Study which provided public outreach for a study of the South Platte River; and Arvada’s Clear Creek Corridor Master Plan, to name a few.   We are thrilled to have Lisa’s expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm strengthen our Wenk Team! For the past couple of years, Wenk Associates has served as the landscape architect for the transformative Clayworks project by AC Development with design led by Tryba Architects. Clayworks, a 12.4-acre site in downtown Golden, Colorado, will bring 1.2 million square feet of new office, residential, hotel, and retail space to the five-block district. We are thrilled to see the construction of Phase 1 beginning! The name “Clayworks” is an homage to the Coors family’s ceramics manufacturing company CoorsTek, which was located on the site from 1910 to 2022. Clayworks will include a collection of new and restored buildings and artifacts with a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community. The district will feature state-of-the-art office spaces, including the new global headquarters of CoorsTek, a boutique hotel, apartments, and food and beverage options. Clayworks represents a significant investment in Golden's future, with a focus on creating a dynamic environment for businesses and residents alike. The project will provide the downtown with new streets, sidewalks, and open spaces, while also generating increased revenue for local businesses. Denver WEDG Waterfront Visioning Workshop Last week, Wenk Associate and WEDG Fellow Tom Klein led a Waterfront Visioning Workshop bringing together local experts, change agents, developers, and leading practitioners in Denver to participate in an interactive workshop focused on Denver’s waterfront. With transformative projects poised to reshape Denver’s waterfront, the Downtown Denver Partnership and Waterfront Alliance partnered on the workshop, which introduced participants to the Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines (WEDG). With six WEDG Professionals locally, Wenk Associates played a leading role in producing and facilitating the workshop with Principal Greg Dorolek and Senior Associate Tyler Kiggins acting as facilitators during the workshop. Following the workshop, Rhys Duggan, President & CEO of Revesco Properties led the group on a bike tour of the River Mile development site, and the event culminated in a happy hour at Races Brewery, sponsored by ASLA-Colorado.
