Wake County Economic Development is the primary economic development organization for Wake County, providing economic development support for its 12 municipalities. As a program of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the organization proactively creates an environment in which Wake County can grow and thrive, resulting in new jobs and capital investment. WCED accomplishes its mission through business recruitment, retention and expansion; marketing and public relations; talent recruitment and retention; and support of entrepreneurship.

Local leaders gathered for the annual joint meeting of EDGE 6 investors and Raleigh Chamber Board of Advisors to hear from Research Triangle Park President and CEO Scott Levitan. Scott shared an overview of the visionary next phase of development for RTP. Over the course of 65 years, RTP has transformed from its visionary beginnings into one of the world's most successful research parks. The Triangle DEI Alliance and the Raleigh Chamber hosted the 2024 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Conference yesterday in partnership with Bank of America. 📈 The annual event kicked off with an impactful opening presentation on DEI Metro Data with Ted Abernathy of Economic Leadership LLC, who presented findings on where our region currently ranks (Raleigh was ranked No. 9 overall.) Ted also facilitated a breakout session for a deeper dive into the study. 💭 Kyle Touchstone of Raleigh Economic Development moderated an insightful panel titled, "When You're The Only One." Kyle and the panelists offered expertise on creating a culture of inclusion in our spaces in which all are empowered to be themselves. 🍦The keynote address by Matthew McCarthy, business executive and former CEO of Ben & Jerry's, delivered a key learning moment that resonated with attendees. Matthew's insights into the intersection of business, equity, and social responsibility underscored the vital role of DEI in driving innovation and success.

Looking for a reason to get on the road this summer? WalletHub set out to identify the most fun, scenic and wallet-friendly road-trip destinations. North Carolina took the 7th spot out of all 50 states. Analysts used three key dimensions to form the final list: costs, safety, and activities. Within the three dimensions, 32 metrics were scored on a 100-point scale that included accommodation prices, road conditions, and number of attractions and national parks.
