This team at Medtronic earned GOLD today for assembling care packages for women at Wayside! Not only did this group give of their time and gifted Wayside clients essential items and hand-written notes of encouragement, they also provided a sign to our clients that they are cared for and thought of. Sometimes a bag isn't just a bag but a sign that you are seen. Thank you, Medtronic, for making this possible! #breakthecycle #empoweredwomen #recoveryispossible

With the start of a new school year around the corner, Wayside gratefully received two different donations of kid's school supplies this week. Wayzata Community Church hosted a donation drive and school book bag packing event (pictured), and Greater Twin Cities United Way's Action Day provided backpacks filled with basic school supplies for kids living in residence at Family Treatment Center and in Wayside's supportive housing. A big THANK YOU to all who were involved! Together we make a difference! For those interested in our current needs, check out our wishlists here: https://lnkd.in/gXwVPDJr

Last week, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced that substance use during pregnancy will no longer be criminalized in Hennepin County. This policy change comes after research shows that pregnant drug users were avoiding medical care during pregnancy over fears of imprisonment. Dr. Cresta Wedel Jones, Wayside board member and associate professor at the U of MN medical school, was interviewed for an article. We applaud Dr. Wedel Jones's work in helping bring awareness and policy change that ultimately improve health outcomes for pregnant women and their children. https://lnkd.in/dFu7D2hn #breakthecycle #empoweredwomen #empoweredfamilies #maternalhealth

This past June, Walser Automotive Group's Shop for a Cause month-long event raised $16,012.50 for Wayside! Today, Wayside's CEO, Amy Morgan (left), accepted the check from Walser Foundation's Director Nancy Werner (center). We are incredibly grateful for the support from Walser and the community for supporting our continued work to empower women, families, and break cycles of addiction and trauma. 🙌 *What is Shop for a Cause?* Wayside was selected as one of Walser Foundation's Shop for A Cause nonprofits picks. This means customers across Walser locations chose from a select group of nonprofits, and Walser donated $25 to the nonprofit of the customers' choice for each car sold. Thank you, Walser! #breakthecycle #shopforacause #empowerwomen #wedorecover

With generous funding from the Proof Alliance grant, Wayside Women's Treatment Center in St. Louis Park was able to give the children's visit room a much-needed glow up. New furniture, toys, and décor now welcome children who come to visit mom during their stay. Many thanks also to Tiffany, painter of the new gorgeous mural! Wayside is so grateful for this beautifully upgraded space. ❤
