Buckingham Friends School, nestled on a picturesque 44-acre campus in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of education. Since its establishment in 1794, the school has remained committed to its founding principles while continuously adapting to meet the evolving needs of its students. Recently, the completion of Phase 1 of the Buckingham Friends School Master Facilities Plan marks another milestone in its history. Phase 1 incorporated the construction of a new gymnasium and connector to the Arts Building, a new science building, and renovations to the main building to freshen the space and better support the students and staff. Watchdog collaborated with Centerbrook Architects and Planners, Gilmore & Associates, Inc., and W.S. Cumby Construction on Phase 1. Rebecca Finlan, serving as the Senior Project Manager from Watchdog, played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of Phase 1. Her expertise in project management, coupled with her dedication to maintaining the schedule and budget, ensured seamless execution. From overseeing weekly meetings to managing furniture procurement, Rebecca's attention to detail was evident throughout the project. Phase 1 highlighted the collaborative spirit between the project team and the school community. A presentation showcasing the predominantly female team underscored the school's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Looking ahead, Phase 2 of the master plan will focus on an addition that will house the music room and enable the expansion of the art studio and wood shop. As the project progresses, careful consideration will be given to cost estimates and fundraising efforts to ensure its successful implementation. The rich history of Buckingham Friends School serves as a foundation upon which its future is built. From its humble beginnings in 1794 to its present-day commitment to excellence, the school continues to uphold its mission of providing a nurturing and enriching educational experience. With each renovation and enhancement, Buckingham Friends School reaffirms its dedication to fostering a community where tradition meets innovation, preparing students for success.
