The Virginia Tourism Authority, doing business as the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is an organization of more than 70 professionals working in the Richmond office and at 11 Welcome Centers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The overriding goal of all of VTC’s activities is to “serve the broader interests of the economy of Virginia by supporting, maintaining and expanding the Commonwealth’s domestic and international inbound tourism and motion picture production industries in order to increase visitor expenditures, tax revenues and employment.” Or, stated another way, our goal is “more people, staying longer, spending more money.”

Did you know Johnny Cash gave his final public performance right here in Virginia on July 5th, 2003? The Carter Family Fold is a beloved music venue and historic landmark in Hiltons, VA honoring the "First Family of Country Music." Johnny was married to A.P. Carter's niece, June Carter Cash. His set at the Fold that evening included the classic song “Ring of Fire,” which was written by his late wife. The list of famous musicians who have performed at the Carter Family Fold continues to grow. Along with Cash, concertgoers have enjoyed performances by Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, and many more. Congratulations to Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge upon its selection to host the 2025 and 2026 USA Cycling Endurance Mountain Bike National Championships! The event will be a collaboration between the city of Roanoke, Roanoke County, and Hollins University, with seven days of racing events and 1,500 athletes competing. VTC President & CEO Rita McClenny and Deputy Secretary of Commerce & Trade Maggie Beal both took part in today's exciting media announcement at Explore Park in Roanoke. With an estimated $2.2 million in direct visitor spending, this event will not only highlight our beautiful trails and vibrant community, but also contribute significantly to our local economy. We are excited to welcome USA Cycling and its athletes, from enthusiasts to professionals, for this historic week-long championship.
