Veritas Team Member Mike Lechleitner spends his days training new employees in the proper safety methods for operating tools, equipment and machines used to make bridge beams and components. Mike started his steel career as a General Laborer at Veritas over 20 years ago and accepted every opportunity to learn new skills and aspects of bridge fabrication. He was promoted to Senior Lead and worked in that role for several years until he moved 60 miles away from the Veritas facility and found another job closer to his new home. However, he missed the satisfaction and excitement of building bridges, so he returned to Veritas as a Trainer. With over two decades as part of the Veritas Team, Mike says he most enjoys helping people learn new things. He states, “It’s exciting to me being able to teach someone how to weld and then see the excitement and pride that they have when they pass a welding test for the first time!” He is constantly amazed at Veritas’s ability to build massive, complex bridge parts that still maintain strict tolerances. In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and being out on the water. Meet Veritas Steel team member Dan Klockziem. Dan works in our Wausau facility’s AWS CWI Quality Control Department and has been with Veritas for 39 years. His favorite job to work on was the Willis Avenue Bridge in New York. He enjoys the fabricating process and working in cross framing and buttwelding. Dan was the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Veritas CEO Award in recognition of his dedication and reliability. Dan says, “Being a Veritas team member means being part of something bigger than just working at a place of employment. I am part of a team that builds bridges.” Dan has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 40 years and they have two children and four grandchildren. Bridges don’t just improve infrastructure; they also positively impact entire communities. Veritas Steel is currently working on Skillman Street Arch Bridge, a project which has become a gateway to improve the west Dallas community. By simplifying surrounding intersections and providing safer passage for cyclists and pedestrians, the improved traffic flow will assist local retail and restaurants, which in turn affects jobs and residents. Check out one of our latest projects: the Skillman Street Arch Bridge in Dallas, TX. Veritas Steel fabricated over 3,000 tons of steel for the floor beam girder of the 282-foot-long arch structure. This impressive bridge will accommodate 10 lanes of traffic and provide safer transport for cyclists and pedestrians. The Skillman Street Arch Bridge is on schedule for completion in late 2024.
