Today’s spotlight is on our incredible Product Analytics Lead Kathleen He! Crossing her one-year anniversary with Speak in May, she’s been instrumental in building an incredible product analytics foundation from the ground up. She joined Speak to work on a product and mission she personally resonated with. “I’ve always been interested in language learning, both as an avid language learner myself and having previously taught English in Taiwan,” she said. “I’ve seen how learning new languages can connect people and cultures together. I’m super excited to be part of a mission that does exactly that.” In her last year at Speak, she stood up the product analytics function and shaped the data culture. “It’s been fun figuring out how to scale our analytics team so we can experiment and surface actionable insights faster, improve data quality & pipelines, and empower everyone at the company to be more data driven.” Kathleen enjoys her co-workers at Speak the most! “Speak truly has the smartest yet most humble and low ego people I’ve ever worked with,” she said. “Some of my favorite memories have been getting together with our global teams in Seoul and Ljubljana.” If you want to work with Kathleen, you’re in luck! Excited to welcome Dyan Khor as our Head of Growth Marketing! She joined at the beginning of April, and has already made a lasting impact on the team. “I was drawn to Speak because it had all the right ingredients: an incredible product that users love, a wildly talented team that I could see myself adding value to, and the right timing in the market to grow in,” she said. In her first few months, Dyan’s been instrumental in helping the team rebuild the way we measure our marketing investments, using a media mix model. “This will enable us to not only understand the incrementality of our performance marketing, but also make bets in less traditionally measurable things like influencer marketing and understand their return on investment, because we truly believe that connecting with our customers is something that helps us grow,” she said. Dyan’s on her journey to learn Spanish! “I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for most of my life, and speak it at an elementary level,” she said. “Now that I’m at Speak I have no excuse! I try to use Speak and practice at least a couple hours a week.” Only a few months in, she’s enjoying the small, tight-knit culture at Speak. “We’re at that rare point where every person and every decision counts,” she said. “No task is too small, and it feels consequential and exciting everyday.” The best part?
