🌍 Women and girls are powerful change agents in designing and leading climate solutions for their communities–women are innovators, leaders, entrepreneurs, workers, and customers in climate-related fields. 📈 Yet, in the broader climate finance ecosystem, gender equity is often poorly integrated or not incorporated at all. While climate finance flows amounted to more than $600 billion in 2021, only 2 percent integrated a gender lens–a huge shortfall in the finance needed to catalyze inclusive climate-related solutions. 🤝 The Climate Gender Equity Fund (CGEF) aims to change that. Learn how this innovative partnership is closing the climate finance gap for women-led and women-benefiting organizations. CGEF is a public-private partnership led by USAID (via CFDA) with founding members Amazon, Reckitt, The UPS Foundation, and Visa Foundation. Grant-making under CGEF is managed by 2X Global.

Catalyzing private finance & private sector actions to support the transition to an equitable and net-zero economy
About us
The USAID Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA) is a $250 million initiative designed to mobilize $2.5 billion in public and private climate investments by 2030. These investments will fund a range of climate change mitigation and adaptation activities focused on scaling up the transition to an equitable and resilient net-zero economy. The Accelerator is organized around three objectives to mobilize financial resources for climate adaptation and mitigation priorities in an inclusive, equitable way: Objective 1: Develop and scale effective partnerships and new investment solutions to achieve transformational change in countries where USAID works. Objective 2: Improve the enabling environment and increase and broaden participation in climate finance including the range and diversity of stakeholders driving climate solutions. Objective 3: Expand local and global capacity to bring more resources into climate finance. 🌧️Natural hazards caused $380 billion in economic losses last year, and only 31 percent of those losses were covered by insurance. Parametric insurance can help fill this gap. Parametric insurance pays policyholders a predetermined amount based on the occurrence of a specific “trigger" event (like flooding or extreme heat) and helps communities recover faster. We're proud to support businesses like Blue Marble OKO and Floodbase as they pioneer these insurance models and scale them to reach vulnerable communities. https://lnkd.in/eR4BXnZ7
