Fielded Common Sensor Payloads version 2 (CSPs v2) are receiving needed upgrades thanks to a joint effort between PEO IEW&S and the CECOM Integrated Logistics Support Center. The CSP, found on the Gray Eagle aircraft, is an electro-optical/infrared/laser designator sensor for battlefield commanders supporting force application, battlespace awareness, force protection and more. Every CSP v2 will now have its flash lamp laser upgraded to the Single Color Diode Pumped Laser (SCDPL) which will provide units with a more reliable laser than its original design. The new version allows full-motion high-definition imagery and serves as the “eyes” of the aircraft system.
