Hello Friends and Colleagues, Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇲 I’ve been fortunate in my career to interact with a large variety of people, and from these many conversations I have experienced first-hand the vast amount of goodness in Americans of all backgrounds. I also, like 75% of Americans of all political backgrounds - right, center, and left - suffer from anxiety around the future of American democracy. Seven years ago, I committed to distilling my personal, professional, and intellectual learnings into a work that would help me and other Americans understand what actually provides stability to the country whose wellbeing so many of us depend upon. The result is my book, which comes out today, July 4th! Pedestal: What Makes American Democracy Stable And Why Your Everyday Thoughts, Words, and Actions Determine Its Success: https://lnkd.in/emCW4Aia My mission in writing this book is to help all Americans who are fearful about the future of their country—whether their views are on the right, center, or left—to do something about it. It turns out, there is a great deal an individual can do. That was the surprising, uplifting conclusion of my decades of study: it is our everyday actions that have the greatest impact on American democracy. Or, as someone much wiser than I, i.e. my wife, said: “You can summarize your whole book as: ‘If Americans stop being arrogant jerks towards one another, the country will be fine.’” Indeed. If the goal of strengthening American democracy resonates with you… Here’s how you can help! 1) Buy the book! You can order it on e-reader, paperback, or hardcover: https://lnkd.in/emCW4Aia 2) If you enjoy the book, post a review about it on Amazon or Goodreads 3) If you know someone who you think will enjoy it, tell them! Or buy the book as a gift. 4) Post about it wherever you enjoy posting. Share a photo of yourself with the book. Tell people why you bought it. Folks likely to enjoy this book are those who are interested in: history, human nature, psychology, political philosophy, stories of human failure, and/or stories of human triumph. I will be doing a book reading in New York City on Wednesday, July 24th. If you are interested in attending in person or remotely, please let me know, and I’ll share details. Despite intense partisan rhetoric, the 2024 election is not a final test of American democracy. That test is happening every day in how people treat each other. Thank you to each and every one of you who has treated me with kindness throughout the time I have known you. I’m grateful for it. 🙏 Raphael C. Rosen
