#UREIMPACT 2024 Student-Led Research Highlights: The Annual Commercial Real Estate Sentiment Survey 📝 The MRED+U graduate student team, who joined Lead Faculty Advisor Mark Troen on stage, conducted its sixth-annual Commercial Real Estate Sentiment survey between December 2023 & January 2024. Each year, the survey engages real estate professionals throughout South Florida, including over 100 Real Estate Advisory Board members who support real estate education programs in the Architecture, Business, and Law Schools. The 2024 survey focused on Five Pillars of Long-Term Growth in South Florida: Housing, Education, Accessibility, Technology, and Transportation. Respondents in 2024 continued to believe South Florida would see additional real estate development, although residential and commercial markets may be more balanced than in previous years. Part of the reason for this was a growing demand for talented, educated, experienced workers for the many industries relocating or starting up in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Thank you Terra and Miami-Dade County for allowing us to reimagine the existing Dolphin Rapid Bus Station as #TheJunction for our final Capstone Project. As lead project manager, it was an incredible experience overseeing a multi-disciplinary, 15-person team to put forth a mixed-use development proposal inclusive of 900 apartment units, an extended stay hotel, commercial office, retail, and a multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex. #Mixeduse #P3 #Sustainaility #Feasibility University of Miami MRED+U

📣 Today's MRED+U Spotlight is Professor Muayad Abbas! We recently sat down with Professor Abbas, delving into our program, his vast experience, and the fascinating world of the South Florida real estate market. Here's what he had to say: Professor Muayad (Mo) Abbas is an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship in Real Estate at MRED+U. He also currently serves as VP of Development at Mast Capital. "My experience over the last 25+ years spans high-rise developments, branded real estate, and proptech. At UM, I focus on practical, hands-on learning to prepare students for real-life industry challenges." In order to set themselves up for success, Professor Abbas said, "Students should actively participate, continuously learn, gain practical experience through internships and projects, and build a robust professional network through events and platforms like LinkedIn." The best piece of advice Professor Abbas has received? "To 'always be learning and stay curious.' This mindset has driven my career and is a principle I emphasize to students, fostering innovation and adaptability." ✨ One of his proudest professional accomplishments is spearheading the iconic Cipriani Residences Miami project at Mast Capital.
