We’ll be hosting our annual Community Block Party for DV Awareness & Prevention on Friday, October 4th at the Kathryn Allen Center for Domestic Violence Services at 6 102nd Street, next to the Family Dollar in Lansingburgh. Unity House is thrilled to announce the recipient of our 2024 Founders Award, John Baackes, the CEO of L.A. Care Health Plan. We believe he truly exemplifies the spirit of this award, serving as an inspiring example of giving back. https://lnkd.in/er4BQ9Dp We are grateful to John for over 50 years of support. He has continued to serve, at Unity House and elsewhere, offering his time, expertise, artistic talent and financial support to many. In the early days of Unity House, when resources were scarce, John helped with just about everything that needed doing. He helped promote services for people in need and worked tirelessly to bring in talented people who were as passionate as he was about the mission of Unity House. He and his former wife, the late Kathryn Allen, became steadfast supporters. As an active volunteer, John also serves as Chairman of the Board for Charles Drew University. He sits on the boards of America’s Health Insurance Plans, California Association of Health Plans, Local Health Plans of California, Project Angel Food, and Urban Voices Project.  We hope you will join us on October 24th to support the work of Unity House today and to celebrate John as we present him with our Unity House Founders Award.

Are you ready for summer fun??

Our Unity House team had so much fun at the Pioneer Charitable Foundation’s Mini Golf Tournament on June 13th. More than $9,000 was raised to help local children in need, supporting the Foundation’s mission of “Helping Kids be Kids”.
