We're honored to have been selected as a recent Ascentra Credit Union's Casual for a Cause donation recipient. Casual for a Cause is a program where Ascentra staff choose families and organizations to support by making a small donation to dress casual on select Fridays, which is just one of the many ways Ascentra is showing they care. From supporting #UnitedWayQC's free tax preparation program, running employee giving campaigns and hosting internal drives that support initiatives like the Write Start School Supply Drive – Ascentra continually shows up for our community and we're so grateful for all that they do. Help us thank Ascentra in the comments below!

Do you remember your first day of school? Whether you were cool and confident or maybe a little anxious – all those “first days” led to the opportunities we all have now. That’s why we’re asking for your help during our Write Start Quad Cities School Supply Drive, happening now through Aug. 2. Our goal is to provide 5,000 Quad Cities students with essential school supplies and raise $12,000. To make it happen, we’re asking our corporate community to give or purchase supplies online, or in person tomorrow or Saturday at JB Young Opportunity Center in Davenport. For the full list of drop off locations or to give online, visit https://bityl.co/QqcF Thank you to Crawford Company and WQAD News 8 for sponsoring Write Start Quad Cities School Supply Drive.

New to our Quad Cities community within the last year, Amazon has quickly become a passionate partner in providing our neighbors with the opportunity to succeed. Check it out. 👇 In May, Amazon led a team of volunteers during #UnitedWayQC’s Day of Caring at Camp Abe Lincoln in Blue Grass, helping to get the site ready for campers to grow over the summer. Next, Amazon sent a team to help collect nonperishable food items during our Stamp Out Hunger food drive where donations helped nourish our neighbors. Then, Amazon put together over 250 activity learning kits for local kids to help them stay active and eager to learn while they enjoy their time off from school this summer. So, while the economic impact Amazon has had on our community since last October has been incredible, today we’re celebrating the significant impact Amazon has had on our kids and neighbors. Thank you, Amazon. 💛

A familiar face to the Quad Cities community – allow us to introduce Sangeetha Rayapati – one of the newest additions to our #UnitedWayQC Board of Directors! Sangeetha has called the Quad Cities home for the last twenty-three years. What began as a career in medicine transformed into a teaching career at Augustana College, where she still teaches courses today! Before serving as Mayor, she served on the Moline-Coal Valley School Board and volunteered time in local musical and community organizations focused on education and leadership. Now, we’re proud to partner with her to create opportunity for all. Help us welcome Sangeetha to the team in the comments below! 👇

Uniting the community to tackle the QC’s biggest challenges. That's what #UnitedWayQC is all about. On Wednesday, we awarded $144,763 to twelve local organizations through the Food and Shelter Program, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These grants are federally funded, and are available to nonprofit organizations that provide emergency food, shelter and rental assistance in Scott and Rock Island County.
