We were saddened to learn of the passing of Gail Wilensky on July 11. Gail was a devoted Michigan alum, accomplished health economist, and inaugural member of the IHPI National Advisory Board. For more than 10 years on the Board, she helped to guide the strategic direction of the Institute with thoughtful perspectives on how best to develop and apply evidence-based research to affect constructive policy conversations. Our hearts go out to Gail’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Gail Wilensky, loved by so many of us in the health care policy community, passed away yesterday evening. Not only did Gail commit her career to making health care better for all Americans, but she was respected on both sides of the aisle. Most importantly, she was an incredibly kind human being. She was a teacher and mentor to me. I will never forget you, Gail. https://lnkd.in/er-c7vcY

Older Americans are feeling a lot of financial strain, our new poll shows - but those who are the least healthy are feeling it even more. And one-third of them have cut back on spending related to their health. Congrats to our members Srijan Sen & Amy Bohnert! 🎉
A $17.9M National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) grant will allow University of Michigan researchers to harness massive amounts of mobile technology, genomic, behavioral and electronic health record data to create decision aids that will make it easier to predict which approaches will work best for individuals seeking mental health treatment. myumi.ch/Q6dXw
