Engineering that Matters.
About us
The University of Dayton is a national, top-ten Catholic research university. The School of Engineering offers five Ph.D. programs in aerospace, electrical, electro-optics, materials and mechanical engineering; 14 master's level programs; five bachelor’s plus master's programs and nine undergraduate majors in engineering and engineering technology. We offer a great technical engineering education, but what sets us apart is our focus on educating the whole person who values collaboration, community-engaged learning and adaptation to change. We strive to develop engineers that are socially and globally aware, understand business and entrepreneurship, are prepared to take on leadership roles and are conscious of the consequences of their work — to society, the environment and the profession.

It’s no secret that UD students are committed, collaborative — and enjoy a friendly competition. Students in the School of Engineering’s Solar Splash team agree. The team competed for the first time in 5 years this June, building a solar-powered boat from scratch over the past two academic years. Although they ran in to a handful of problems, they still finished the competition with smiles on their faces. Read more. ⬇️

UD School of Engineering master’s students now have the opportunity to conduct space research thanks to a new exchange program with the University of Leicester, U.K. (UL). Beginning in fall, students in the Space Technology Exchange Program (STEP) will complete courses at UD before traveling to the U.K. in late-spring of 2025 to begin a three-month long, design-based project immersion on UL’s campus. Back on UD’s campus for summer of 2025, students from each university will collaborate for three additional months on their projects before final presentations. Read more ⬇️
