This week we gathered for one of our regular All Staff Meetings in Western Gateway Building. 📆 These bi-monthly events give us an opportunity to catch up on team and organisational news and to collaborate on various topics. It also gives us a wonderful chance to catch up with colleagues and have those all-important chats about the weather (of course!), holidays and lots more. 😀 After each meeting, we leave feeling energised 🏋♂️ and pleased to have met with our friends and colleagues. Thank you Anthony Courtney for the photography. #WeAreUCCAcademy #CollaborativeWork

Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh was the voice of the GAA for thousands, a proud Kerryman and a prouder Dingle man. Dr Aoife Granville, UCC Folklore, writes: "While he left his beloved Dún Síon initially for Coláiste Íosagáin in Baile Mhúirne to attend secondary school and later for Dublin, he returned often and the Ó Muircheartaigh family are a much loved and integral part of our Dingle family today." "Tá scamall bhróin thairis dúthaigh Duibhneach agus scéal tagtha chughainn go bhfuil Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh imithe ar shlí na fírinne. Cé gur leis an tír ar fad é, gan dabht, cuimhnimid ar i gcónaí mar dhuine dár gcuid fhéinig é anseo i nDaingean Uí Chúis." Jonathan Leahy Maharaj is our Lead Creative & Graphic Designer 💪 🖌 🎨 His creative skills were called upon by Project Centre colleagues Rebecca Buckley and Anna Power in supporting FreeHydroCells to produce engaging informative and, most importantly - fun Children's Activity Books for the Carnival of Science held in Cork last weekend. Well done to everyone involved in this project. 👏 #WeAreUCCAcademy #ScienceRocks #CarnivalofScienceCork
If I'm asked what I do for a living, I'll often tell people that I'm in charge of the colouring-in, so it was great to be able to bring this skill to a new generation, and help my UCC Academy colleagues in FreeHydroCells to get some science in there too at the Carnival of Science in Fitzy's Park this weekend. Rebecca Buckley was in charge of the activity books & pencils, and Anna Power was in charge of the stickers, and by all accounts they went down a treat! (all photos thanks to FreeHydroCells)
More fantastic news from University College Cork. Congratulations to everyone involved. 👏
🌍 UCC places 67th globally in sustainability rankings University College Cork (UCC) has placed 67th of 1,963 universities from around the world in the latest results of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. Now in its sixth year, the THE World Impact Ranking is the world’s only evidence-based rating that measures universities’ commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. UCC’s placing is within the top four per cent of all institutions globally and is seventh in Europe. UCC President Professor John O’Halloran welcomed the rankings, stating: “I am delighted that once again the THE World Impact Ranking has recognised the hard work undertaken by our students and staff towards making UCC a world leader in sustainability."
