📢The student-led UC Davis EcoCAR team is halfway through the 2022-2026 cycle of the EcoCAR Electric Vehicle Challenge. Congratulations Aggies! UC Davis is one of 15 universities selected to compete in the competitive effort coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and in partnership with Argonne National Laboratory, General Motors and MathWorks. For Ajay S., the project manager for UC Davis EcoCAR and a master's student in the UC Davis College of Engineering who will graduate this summer, the road ahead is full of promise. “It's a very exciting time,” he said. “The students have grown immensely over the last two years, and we can see tangible results now.” #electricvehicles #sustainability #aggies

People recently released from incarceration are among the most vulnerable populations in society. To better support these individuals, our Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Digital CoLab are now providing digital resources and support for people reentering communities after incarceration. The new program is called Digital SAFE-T and is built on a partnership between Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and WellSpace Health (the largest federally qualified health center or FQHC in Sacramento). It provides personalized case management for recently incarcerated individuals. “We are proud to have developed the Digital SAFE-T Program to help incarcerated and released individuals access resources and critical care in the palm of their hand,” said Ashish Atreja, CIO and chief digital health officer. “By re-imagining how we can support this vulnerable patient population, we are thinking beyond the walls of our hospital to provide care through technology.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gckszzTT

📢 With a recent $1.98 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Dr. Vinod Narayanan and an interdisciplinary team of researchers (Drs. Nitin Nitin, Erfan Rasouli) are aiming to decarbonize the industrial sector using waste heat solutions. Congratulations to the team! About 96 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent is emitted by food and beverage processing every year. “It’s an important issue for us to tackle being in the Central Valley as the area produces about 40% of the fruits and vegetables in the country,” said Narayanan. “If we can remove even one million metric ton of CO2 out of it using this process, that’s a win for California and the United States.” Learn more at the link below.
